My goal for this week is to eat more veggies.
I am also doing weight watchers. 3rd time is a charm right? last 2 times were on-line. I decided the only way I am held accountable for my weight is to pay someone to weigh me each week. Seriously, I am not going to stop till I lose the weight and become a life long member. Sounds dumb, but I need this! Plus I have learned to cook healthier and nutritional info each week. My SO has lost 15 pounds since I started, due to the healthier cooking. I haven't lost that much yet, but hopefully soon!

The best diet is getting sick. I weigh less than I've weighed in over 3 years, even while watching what I ate and exercising.

Seriously now. I agree with Jenn. Diets don't work. For it to be lasting weight loss, you have to change your whole lifestyle in a manner that will be sustainable long-term.

"I'm one stomach flu away from my goal weight." ... the best line from The Devil Wears Prada

I can see the point of a diet if you're working to lose just a few pounds, or maybe baby weight. It's just not something that would ever work on a long-term basis for me. I watched my mom yo-yo diet her whole life, and I didn't grow up eating in a healthy way at all. Some of it was due to circumstance, some of it was due to just a lack of understanding of what was what -- "You mean mayo is all fat? Ketchup is basically tomato flavored sugar?"

Just got back from running. I did it with a friend. I feel so much better after a good run, not sure why I didn't start sooner.

                    September weight loss encouragement

I made a big step last week with the decision to not buy candy or chips anymore. They are a waste of money & makes me feels bad - after the initial sugar rush & taste explosion. I hope this will help me be healthier & maybe shed a few pounds.

I'm joining you all. I saw a few pictures of me recently and was thoroughly disgusted. I'm hopefully going to be taking wedding pictures in a year and don't want to be disgusted with them. SO I started making healthier dishes. I am cutting down on carbs. No more pasta for every lunch and rice with every dinner. I woke up this morning and walked a mile down the bike path and then the mile back UP the bike path. I then showered and walked to the metro and to the library instead of taking the car. Hopefully today is the start to a lifestyle change.

L.Jane, you are TINY! What are you talking about? I get doing it for health reasons, I do, but there's nothing wrong with the way you look so I don't know what you're seeing in those photos.

You are too sweet. And yes, health reasons are part of the reason. Getting winded going up steps is not acceptable. I know I am not grossly overweight, but I am getting heavier then I used to be. I am not going to count pounds as I start taking care of myself. I am not going out and buying a scale. Instead I am going to eat healthy and exercise and hopefully that will help me feel better about my body image. It also doesnt help when standing next to my sister who is a marathon running, black belt machine and she used to be the heavy sister.

Finally lost weight this week (after 4 weeks of small consecutive gains) at my ww weigh in... but I'm pretty sure its stress. I just hope its not a fluke, it would really suck to go in next week and have gained 3 pounds.

Just trying to keep tracking and exercising....

*sigh* I need to get back into going to meetings. Although I am technically a Lifetime Member, I need to pay to lose again. *big sigh*
