  • How do you entertain yourself?

Seriously. I'm 22 min into my 30 min run ... closing in on a week now of this. I'm noted out of my skull. I can't think of a single thought except "how many more minutes?".

I'm closing in on week 2 of 1000 calories and daily exercise of 1.5 hours which now includes 30 min runs. My attempt to jump start my recent sluggish weight loss trend netted me a .4 gain. I'm drinking water, have no thyroid problem but was stalled on my 1 hr walks and 1400-1600.

    What gives?

I run on our treadmill, so I watch TV and listen to my iPod. Otherwise, yeah, it's boring as hell.

I feel you! I do an hr. on the elliptical and get bored out of my mind. Even with music and now audiobooks. Can you all believe I have an iPhone and have no clue about podcasts. are they free and where do you get them from?

Yep, free and you get them off of iTunes.

I distract myself with audiobooks, but I'd probably need some music to run. I couldn't w/o for 1.5 hours straight. I get so bored. Can you break it up into two 45 minute w/os. AM and PM?

Podscasts are made of 100% awesome. I downloaded all of Christopher Titus' and am going through them. Freakin' hysterical.

When I'm on the elliptical, I do Netflix to my iPhone. If I were out running, I just listen to music.

Duh! I did Netflix once and then completely forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder!

When i'm at the gym and need that last 5-10 push to finish I put on the katy perry song peacock. cracks me up every time! when i do a 20+ minute free weight sets at home I put on Parks and Rec on Netflix. again, that show cracks me up and the 20 mins just fly right by.

Pandora and my Kindle! I do ellipticals, though, so it's smooth enough to read. I'm not sure that would work running...

I used to bike to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and then I'd routinely embarrass myself by laughing out loud at the gym. I found I significantly picked up my pace once I started listening to music, though.

Sorry to hijack, but will someone please explain to me how you manage to read on the elliptical? I tried, but I move too much to be able to read.

I read on the recumbent bike, but I had the same problem as Shakti with going too slow if there's no music. What helped was listening to people on the treadmill or elliptical and trying to match my pace to theirs.
