  • Crossfit. Anyone wanna join me?

My SO sent me this link yesterday:
    http://orangecoastcrossfit.com/crossfit-for-women/

With a message that said, "Success stories of women who Crossfit. Just humor me, and take a look."

Ok. I think that's a direct hint that he thinks I need to get into the gym (I know, I do). So I found a beginner's program and I'm thinking of starting it.

For example, day 1 is 3 rounds (no time limit) of 5 pull ups, 10 pushups, and 20 situps. By week six, you do 1 round for time of 50 pull ups, 75 pushups, 100 squats, and 125 sit ups.

The workouts are 5 days/week. 3 days doing bodyweight circuits (as described above) and two days doing short cardio. Also, workouts take between 5 min to 30 minutes.

Anyone want to try this 6 week program? I'll send it out.

I'm curious to see what will happen if I just commit to this program. Anyone else interested?

Hmm, so you have to go to a gym to do it? I'm a little confused.

Honestly I wasn't impressed by the success stories...I think most of the women look pretty good before and look a little too beefy afterwards. I'm guess that really isn't the what everyone who does it looks like, though

      What a brave soul...

I'll be honest -- that looks a bit too intense for me, but I wouldn't mind some accountability to start/continue working out...

There's one right outside my neighborhood. Pricey. Most of the people coming out look like serious workout people. They aren't in the shopping center to visit Yogurtville (which is the only reason we go to that shopping center).

Hmmm, I would be less than happy with that suggestion from my SO, holy moly.

It does sound like P90X, which some people love.

I'd be interested in seeing the layout of the program, if you could PM it to me, but I'm not sure I'll be able to commit to it.

Not only "no", but "helllllllll no!". I hate gyms with a passion. If my fat ass is going to workout, I'd rather suffer alone. Other peeps working out and getting in my way bugs the shit out of me.

And truthfully, if my dude had sent me this less than subtle hint to get my ass to a gym, we'd be consulting a surgeon to remove my foot from his colon.

I'm joining the JCC on Monday to work out more, but I'm all about treating myself kindly. I'll stick to running, pilates, and whatever else I can. I worry that some of these hard core programs would hurt me because I've thrown both my back and shoulder out in the last six months.

I have a couple of friends who do crossfit and LOVE it. One got pretty beefy looking, and the other one looks great. It's expensive and quite the commitment. They both go to the gym constantly, but I'm not sure if that's because they're crazy, or because it's too hard to do crossfit at home.

My crazy cousin (boy) and his dad do crossfit. Cousin started about 1.5 years ago and became a total fanatic. As in at my grandpas funeral a year ago crossfit was all he would talk about. Ge goes to workout 6 days a week at least. My uncle is in his 60s and in good shape but he tends towards the compulsive exercise end of the spectrum. When he started running about 10 years ago he ran so much he blew out his knees, etc I think those types of prop rare those to whom crossfit appeals.

If YOU want some exercise, you should look for something you'd like to do. I know crossfit would not be my bag ever. I don't do pullups lol and there's no way I'd have time for this. I like to see ppl I know at the gym- and i prefer a gym membership bc there are classes available to mix it up, it's convenient... But I don't love exercise, I just feel like it's something I need to do for my overall health.

My dh would NEVER tell me i should look into a fitness program. Ummmm. It wouldn't be pretty.

I have a cousin who does Crossfit, too. He loves it, but doesn't go overboard. As a cop, he likes to be in better shape than the dumbasses he has to run after.

It's like those body boot camps. Doesn't appeal to me at all.

OMG I can't even do 1 pull up... and I can't do a real push up either never have been able to but I can problably do the all the squats on day one. Don't know how I would work up to doing one. I'm 5'0" and 115, not that fat but kinda out of shape.

Crossfit is P90X is Insanity. Not my bag... I have to be able to lift SuperBean at the end of the day. Plus, I am clutsy as all get out, and would probably tear my ACL or something.
I agree with finding something that works for you. I used to do laps and other exercises in the pool at the gym, but that's not the best option anymore. SS works well for me.
