  • New Year, New goals?

I wanted to check and find out if any of you wanted to share your health, fitness, or weight loss goals for 2012. I think we have a well rounded group of all health and fitness levels. I'm curious to see where you are these days. Plus, we all want to be a support to each other. I'll start.

I starting trying to lose weight again last March. In all total I was able to drop 48 pounds last year. BUT I'm not at my goal yet. I have about 50-60 more pounds to drop. I think I'm going big this year. I want this weight off! It's going to be hard, but I think it's really doable. I'm going to hit the gym three days a week and a extra yoga class in there once a week. I try and keep my calories under 1,500 each day. My short term goal is to drop 15 pounds by Valentines Day. Ok, enough about me. Please share!!

I need to lose about 70lbs. Yes, my goal is to lose a 9 hear old girl. Then I plan to get pregnant and not keep the weight on as a souvenir.

Oh, I'll do this with bootcamp 3x a week and jogging or walking at least 2x a week.

My goal is to lose 20 lbs. Overall I need to lose more than that, but I'll be breastfeeding most of the year, so I don't want to try losing more than that. That will put me at my pre-baby weight for my first pregnancy, which, while still overweight, I was fairly content with.

I plan to go to the gym 4-5 days a week, doing cardio for at least 30 minutes and weights for at least 15 minutes. I also plan to eat out much less, especially fast food.

My goal is to walk 5 times a week for atleast 30 minutes. So far so good. Dh is even going on walks with me. I'm also getting co-workers to go on walks with me this coming week. I've been keeping track of my activity with www.runkeeper.com and posting it to facebook. A few of my friends use it already so I thought I'd give it a shot. When I signed up they became a part of my "street team" even though we don't live in the same area. I'll be on there or here as well to support you.

I need to make working out a priority again and get some energy and strength back. I'd like exercise 20 minutes each day (probably videos), and full workouts on the weekends. I'd really, really like to incorporate some kind of strength training back into my life. It's been more than a decade since I've done that....

LMAO!!! I know the feeling!! I probably need to drop close to 70 pounds as well. I calculated it out. If I drop about 1.34 pounds per week all year I can lose 70 pounds this year. Doesn't sound THAT hard. I'm going for it!

My goal is to hike the John Muir Trail, N to S, with DH, in 2013. To do that, I need to drop Bean's "pouch," add muscle, and tone.
SS 4-5x weekly, plus a hike 1-2x a month to start out, is what I'm looking at for the next 4-6 mos.

I am buying a scale today and looking at hard numbers. I'm scared!

My goal is to keep exercising lol. This is the first time in a while where I've managed to go in regularly (2 times a week or more) and it feels good. But my knee is sore, my wrist is not great so the doctor doesn't want me doing stuff that puts direct pressure on my wrist, and I'm so stressed with time. I feel guilty for working out... When I should be cleaning or packing or whatever. It's my guilt-- dh is glad I exercise bc it makes me a less stressed person overall.

Specific goals- spin once a week, run/weights 2 days a week (and be able to run outside which scares me lol), and one other class a week - maybe spin but I'd prefer a step or sculpt class, just not sure how to do that with my wrist problem.

                  Ugh.

I don't know about all the running though. My knee has been bugging me all week-- just a 2/10 but enough for me to notice and be a little concerned.
                  Peggy

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

Fall marathon and continue with Pilates and calistenics (sp?)

My kids are also going to eat more things that come from the Earth rather than white processed stuff.
In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

I'm hoping for a healthier me by my son's first birthday (4/24). My ultimate goal is to lose the 10+ "yay it's winter let's have cookies" pounds that I've gained. I'm starting with a goal of 10,000 steps per day/six days a week. I have a Fitbit (anyone else?) and am hoping it will encourage me to stay on track.

I've been toying with the idea of getting one... how do you like it?

I gained 35 lbs this pregnancy, lost 25, and have 10 left that seem to be stuck plus the 30 I should have lost before I got pregnant. So 40 would put me at an okay place, 50 would be ideal. I have no idea how breastfeeding will affect things though.

                          My exercise goals:

Doing a 5k class now (though I slept through the first one!), would like to do a distance class afterwards, and do a spring or fall sprint triathlon. My ultimate goal would be to train for and run the Dec White Rock Marathon, but I don't think that is realistic this year. I'd like to complete the Insanity program too at some point. Joining a gym isnt an option time or money wise this year.

                          Eating goals:

Start tracking with MyNetDiary, though I'm unsure of a calorie goal

                          Dump the sugar

Eat out MUCH less...I'd like to give it up during Lent but it is going to be hard to convince DH. It would greatly improve our budget situation too.

Late spring or early summer half marathon or triathlon. Hoping to lose the baby weight while dh is home before intern year starts. Not sure how breastfeeding will impact this but I can hope it will all work out!

One other thing. My best friend back home got engaged over New Years. These people look like fitness models. In all honestly her soon to be hubby could 100% be a fitness model. Oh good grief I think I'm going to be in the wedding. Must. Lose. Weight.

I asked her yesterday about a wedding date and she was "stressed" and doesn't want to even think about it. She had talked about doing it in Sept but now "doesn't know." Well folks, I faked a really good "Awww. You'll figure it out. Just take your time dear." Oh god, I'm bad!!! I just need more time to lose weight!! haha!
