  • Hot yoga?

Does anyone do this? Am I going to pass out?

I love it. BUT I am a FL girl who will always take heat over cold. I would recommend that you drink plenty of water. I can't imagine being dehydrated and then sweat - that would make me pass out.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I used to be obsessed. For some reason i think i get better results from regular yoga, but bikram is fun. You will sweat an absurd amount, but you probably wont pass out (I don't think, although I do remember seeing a few injuries...)

I agree - hydrate before. I remember feeling best when I ate almost only fruit the day I was going to class (I preferred to go at night, otherwise I spent the whole day at work chugging water and then taking very frequent bathroom breaks). I also used to use this little insulated wine tote to hold my spare water so it wasn't boiling at the end of class.

Btw- I think remember that drinking water during the first 30min was frowned upon.... So def hydrate well ahead of time! Zicos are good too!

I tried it and hated it!! I love all other types of yoga but found the Bikram style really strange. Weird breathing, poses done differently than I was used to, teacher talking constantly, a room packed with almost naked bodies. And I'm not a fan of heat.
But I say try it because lots of people love it! Just don't wear long pants/shirt.

Ha! My favorite place was more like hipster bikram. It was back in like 2006 or 7... A few years before I was even aware that lulu existed (can't imagine how i lived without those wonder unders). But anyway, um yeah... Lots of skin.

Didn't think about all the other people sweating next to me I'm going to hydrate and eat all the kids grapes. They keep their room at 90 instead of 105 that I've read for Bikram. They have some barre fushion classes too I'd like to try. I need a w/o buddy...

I love love LOVE my Hot Yoga class. I do have to say I'm also from a warmer climate and don't mind the heat Also, I live in a rural area and the gym doesn't have the ability to bring the room temp up over 100 degrees... it's more like Warm Yoga. Regardless, I'm sweating like a mad woman 15 minutes into the class! Our fantastic instructor doesn't attempt a Bikram style. It's really a Vinyasa yoga. I guess it really should be called Warm Vinyasa Yoga by the most encouraging and upbeat instructor ever! I always leave in a great mood.

Mine is vinyasa too. I can't stress enough how awesome it is. They've started offering a candlelit hot yoga on Sunday nights but I haven't gotten to it yet. I bring an insulated water bottle and haven't gotten the side-eye yet from anyone.

Ladybug, I wish you lived a few hours SW!!

I know! I wish I had someone to go with me.

It was awesome. I'm totally going back. I love the cool, menthol towel they placed on our faces at the end. I've made a deal with myself that money I don't spend on wine I can spend on hot yoga classes. I'm feeling motivated

I don't remember a towel, that sounds lovely! It's great that you enjoyed it so much!

That sounds like a great deal (the yoga for giving up wine). I need to make some sort of deal like that with myself! And I agree, workout buddies are the best.

I'm a total devotee to vinyasa yoga. Hot yoga, not so much. I think you can get a great workout with vinyasa. I hate being mildly dehydrated, so I avoid hot yoga. I know people who love hot yoga, but that's my humble opinion!
