Ok be forewarned -- this is kinda gross and probably TMI, but we're all friends here right?

I have cooties.

Ringworm, to be exact. A small patch cropped up on my upper back about 3-4 weeks ago right when I started going to the gym (I swear I'm being punished for working out...). By the time I figured out what it was I'd already developed 3 or 4 more small spots in addition to that one on other random parts of my back and torso. I've been applying lotrimin twice a day, sometimes 3 times, to the spots but the damn thing keeps spreading!! I have probably 20 spots now just randomly all around my torso and upper back. They're all very small and the original spot (which is the biggest) hasn't grown any more since I've been applying lotrimin, but it says it could take 2-4 weeks to fully resolve so how in the hell do I keep it from spreading in the meantime?!?! Anybody have any suggestions? DH said I need to get a prescription for an antifungal to attack it system-wide but the side effects of those are crappy so I was hoping to avoid it if I can, but then again I don't want to wait until this nastiness spreads to my neck or face or somewhere else equally as embarrassing. Dude this is so gross...

I think Diflucan works on ringworm.

With that many spots you probably need a systemic med.

If you were a dog, I'd prescribe LymDyps.

Oh man, DH and I both got it after visiting an animal shelter to pick out a cat. It's awful! I'm afraid I can't help you with advice, though. Ours both responded to the Lotrimin. You have my sympathy, though. It was miserable!

Eughh. I've gotten this before from one of my cats, but thankfully it cleared up with a little antifungal ointment. I didn't know it could spread like that? I hope it gets knocked out SOON!!

Yuck. I got (what I think was) ringworm on my arm, poison ivy, and severely hurt my ankle all in one week in HS. I was a mess and completely understand. I'm also never getting in a lake again

I picked up some type of fungus from the gym in college and the creams didn't cut it. I had to get an oral and cream steroid from the derm.

One of my best friends started vet school with a huge ringworm lesion on her cheek. . It's par for the course in vetmed.

Have you called a derm? They might want to see you if it's spread that much. I would think it falls out of the norm and probably needs some extra Rx.

I haven't called a derm (worried how it works with insurance if it's not a referral) and it'll be a couple of weeks before I can get in to see my PCP so I'm going to head over to our employee express clinic tomorrow morning and have them take a look. They should be able to prescribe me something and maybe get me a follow-up with a specialist since I have a somewhat atypical presentation. Hopefully it's nothing more than that

I'm now armed with diflucan and ketoconazole cream so wish me luck! I counted 39 separate lesions today on my back, upper arms, neck, chest and torso... this shit is not playin around...

Those two should do the trick! Just make sure to treat for long enough. Probably 2-3 weeks. Did they tell you differently?

The cream is BID for 2 weeks but it's a pretty big tube, it might last me 3 weeks. I have enough diflucan for 4 weeks. Though she did say I might have some unsightly rings for up to 3 months after it's treated which kind of sucks -- no tank tops for a while! (not that it's warm enough right now anyway but 3 months from now it should be)

I've also not laid down on a mat in the gym for the last 3 weeks and likely never will again

Ugh, that sucks so bad! Hoping you get well soon - ringworm is really stubborn sometimes.
