I've been bad food wise the last week. Not that bad - just excessive snacking on healthy-ish foods. But I feel gross. Must get on track!!!

I'm still of many minds about calorie counting. But nothing else seems to be so proven to work to get calorie consumption under control. So I am trying to balance the downsides by adding extra rules: I need to get at least 1500 calories, and I need to make mostly "clean eating" choices. I am feeling really pretty good about my food choices, probably for the first time in 8+ years, so that makes me happy. I'm regularly hungry, but always at a reasonable mealtime and I'm never light-headed with hunger, I'm getting lots of vegetables and minimal processed grains and measuring my meat portions carefully, I'm (mostly) limiting my wine. I've kept it up for almost 3 weeks, which is a good track record for me. And I've gained 1 pound of lean mass since I started walking daily! Yay muscles!

I've started saying "No" to my inner Cookie Monster, and all of the sugar pop is gone from the house (as of today), and I'm down a bit because of the first, and the second will help - about 2.5 real pounds (not water weight). Roughly 15 more to go...

Ugh, it's official. I'm back in the habit of staying up late drinking wine / snacking. No wonder I keep gaining weight. This week I've started doing a yoga video after getting home from work -- around 7 or 8 PM even though I've already exercised in the morning. It's to break the habit of immediately running for the wine bottle and remind myself that I'm committed to a healthy life. But I always feel like I need time alone when DH goes to bed! And obviously failing in the self control department. I'm turning into my mother!

I'm back here! I'm 8lbs up from my pre-baby weight and 12-17lbs up from where I'd like to be ideally (35lbs up from my wedding weight, but we're being realistic here). Since I'm leaving work earlier, my plan is to get home, feed E (or pump if they fed her a 3rd bottle at daycare), and take her for a walk. I have a route around the neighborhood that's 1.3 miles, and we usually do that in about 30 minutes, though eventually I'd like to start going faster. Now that my baby meals and the holidays are over, most of the dessert is out of the house, but I need to stop buying king cakes now that it's Carnival season. Otherwise, I've been eating pretty well. Hopefully the decent eating, walking, and BFing will help me easily get into my target range.

I slipped on the midnight wine too last night! Had a glass when the kids went to bed...another when DH got home 2-3 hours later... Managed to keep the snacking down to just some leftover squash, LOL, but poor DH after a day of serious calorie restriction really had a full meal at midnight (probably his first of the day). Anyway, on the wine I did notice that the first glass made me so sleepy I didn't want to get anything else done, though I'd been proud of my after-bedtime productivity lately. So hopefully tonight I can stick with "no wine until DH gets home, and then only one glass" on the grounds of I desperately want to get this living room picked up with no kids around!

Can you have a big container of water handy after work? I seriously am in the habit of grabbing for the wine when it turns out I'm just plain thirsty. Or some herbal tea, to have something soothing to sip while you do your nighttime winding-down stuff? I really need to replenish my Sleepytime.

Wearing a swimsuit in the future does put a sudden urgency on the matter

                                Fitness/Weightloss 2014

I have so much weight to lose. It's just so daunting. DH and I have been very good diet-wise since the New Year. Even at a recruiting dinner the other night I ate a beet and arugula salad with a light vinaigrette dressing. I hate it when I'm asked, "Is that all you want?" No damnit. I want it all. I want all the things.

My calories have been between 1400-1800 a day, and I'm burning more than that (about 2100). I've gained weight. It's not muscle. I'm not really working out yet. I'm not eating too little either.

This sucks. It's no wonder I never stick with anything and give up. I'm really trying, and I get no results. Why do I even bother?

DH has lost about 6 pounds. Yay for DH.
