How have I missed this?! I, too, am working on my health this year. I have an entire person to lose so it will be a long journey. DrBtobe and I are doing weight watchers together. I've has success with it before and he enjoys it. So far I am down 7 pounds since the beginning of the year (I weigh in tomorrow) and he is down 5. We have also been attending bikram yoga classes and flove them! Yoga and I are besties so adding the cleansing sweat aspect is bliss. Well, once the class is over it is. I'm doing a 30 day challenge with 7 of my girlfriends and so far it's a gas. (No anesthesia puns intended) So...I guess so far so good. Really hoping to look my best for the wedding and help boost my fertility so maybe this will be the year I become a mommy.

I'm doing Weight Watchers and FitBit. I'm eating very filling foods that last a while, like yesterday I had Special K Nourish for breakfast. Those are pretty good and really filling. I just love food. So much. I miss cheesy, buttery, fried, fatty, goodness. Food is my love.
Today, I'm pretty busy. So far, I've eaten some pistachios, and have had water.Heidi, PA-S1 - wife to an orthopaedic surgeon, mom to Ryan, 17, and Alexia, 11.

It's been a little chilly here, so we haven't been walking as much lately - I know it's not cold compared to some of you, but we don't have proper attire to take E out for long when it's "cold" here. On the plus side? I'm down 2lbs after my fun little stomach bug Monday night. I need to come up with some kind of exercise routine that I can do inside with E in the afternoons.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

(Although seeing them sitting on the porch also gives me such a weird sense of safety. I'm amazed that people just leave strollers sitting outside - those things are crazy expensive!!! I guess it's nice that they feel like it will be there next time they come outside.).
People in Phoenix used to talk about how horrible having a baby was during the summer - they always worried about burning them getting them in the car, etc. so interesting to see the opposite issue.

What the h@ll are you dressing your baby in to walk them around in this crazy cold weather?? (Not like -3 cold, I'm sure they aren't doing that, but even like 30 cold). They probably aren't newborns, but still. I can hardly take it - and I have to be moving around. I would freeze my butt off if I was sitting in a stroller!!!Alison

We had a Scandinavian play group member when we lived in Baltimore. She used to leave her baby parked outside on the sidewalk while the toddlers played. We would all watch that stroller like a hawk through the windows, but she was totally unconcerned! Definitely a different culture.

I'm struggling with trying to decide when my body needs to rest. I want to do a 30 day challenge but today I'm sore. Not cannot move around sore but I feel it everywhere. But it's not so bad after class so i think I should just keep going.
Besides, I want to see that scale dropping every week... so far, 11.5 pounds gone this month!wife of a PGY-2 anesthesiology resident & mother of one adorable baby girl

I usually work through yoga sore. (Or most sore as, but I hurt myself, so my advice is probably bad).
But I agree there can be a fine line between good sore and almost hurt sore. You will eventually start to feel the difference. If a particular muscle group is so exhausted or tight that you've lost strength, there is a decent chance you'll hurt yourself if you keep pushing. (In my experience).
Which is why I like to change up my activities often like MB. But usually yoga sore for me (albeit super painful at times) is soreness that I can work through safely. Particularly in those hot rooms. That isn't to say that I haven't hurt myself while doing yoga. For example, if you aren't feeling strong enough to do a crap load of vinyasas - go to down to your knees some of the time. Hurting your shoulder isn't worth the extra 3 calories you'll burn by staying off them. (I don't think there are vinyasas in bikram, but I haven't been in years). Listen to your body and don't feel pressure to compete with others in the class.
30day challenges can be hard, but I think 1/2 of the battle is showing up. I say go, and listen to your body while you are there. At least it's warm....
