Actually, in the next few weeks, the Mississippi will start to open up and bald eagles congregate on the shores for easy fishing. It is a phenomenal sight to see - hundreds of the birds in the trees for a couple of weeks. As a kid I was so confused when people said they were endangered because there were metric shit-ton of them within a couple of miles of us...
Wow!! It sounds like you live in heaven! I was definitely an adult the first time I saw a bald eagle in the wild. I'd love to come visit and go for some hikes, that sounds like a blat!

JDAZ, I'm sorry about your foot, is it feeling better today?

I managed to more or less eat within range yesterday even with my "fuck all" attitude about weight. At this point since I haven't even had the Mirena for two years I need to just buckle down and become more disciplined with diet. I'm not ready to blame it on progesterone quite yet.

    • Today I got into a fight with a man over a spin bike. Awesome. I won, but still so annoying.

        • Ok - I'm officially officially sick of being out of shape. ILs bought DH and I each a FitBit yesterday, and we are both calorie counting. I'm going to start exercising in the morning - couldn't today because the dog spite-peed while we were gone, so I had to empty the playroom for the carpet cleaners. The goal is to lose about 15lbs and not wear a wetsuit this summer The final, super-embarrassing straw to my weight? After walking all day with Heidi, niener, and ALOY, my thighs were about 2 steps away from bleeding because they were so chaffed and raw

            • Very clearly back to my longtime nutritional yeast addiction. I have suspected for years that I don't absorb B vitamins well and that the nooch is the only thing that does the trick. I crave it once or twice a day and it literally, makes me happier. The only reason why I ever stop using it is because I get sick of it tinting the taste of all of my food. Anyway, anyone else as in love with the stuff as me?

              • Nutritional yeast on popcorn is heaven. Now I'm going to have to get some tomorrow when I'm in the town with the grocery store with the good crunchy-people-food selection.

Yumm!!! I've been using it to thicken soups for the most part recently. Vegan mac is also a longtime favorite. Or scrambled tofu? Mmm!! Hell, I've even toasted it on the skillet. At this point I'm in full addiction mode. When I crave anything now I know it's not chocolate but nooch!!

                  • What is it exactly? How is it different than regular yeast?

Nutritional Yeast is like Brewer's Yeast but has more B vitamins. It's an inactive yeast that many vegans use as a substitute for cheese (there are easy recipes for making a cheese substitute for things like pizza. As mentioned before, it can easily replace cheese in macaroni and "cheese", and is often used to thicken foods like soup and stir fry). It's low calorie, chalk full of vitamins, high in protein, and an appetite suppressant. It's about like making the switch from cow milk to soy. It has a unique, almost nutty flavor and turns your pee florescent yellow. When I eat it on a regular basis it almost functions as a natural SSRI.

Edit: I've had a love affair with it for a long time. At least 5 years.

Did you do a burpee every time you folded a shirt?

                            • How's everyone doing?

I was really good this week with tracking calories, staying right in the middle of my calorie range, as well as starting to log the small things that I didn't include before, like tsp sugar in tea, butter on toast, etc. Though still not working out as much as a couple months ago I've been doing the HIIT videos, walks, and even a couple bike rides. Also cut my wine consumption in half. Which means I am SERIOUS about losing weight before summer.

Despite that, I still gained 2 lbs. I guess I "feel" like I'm retaining water but I'm still pissed. Is it possible my body has already adjusted to this many calories and I have to create even more of a deficit??!

My goal was of course to LOSE 2 lbs this week, not gain, so I'm angry because that means I'm going to have to try to be strict this weekend even though we're going to dinner with friends, drinks, etc. LAME.

                              • I have been exercising 5/7 days (just 30 minutes on the elliptical) and counting calories, but I think FitBit is giving me too many calories because I haven't lost anything...
