    Mom Posture

MrsK, if you're still interested I. yoga, try talking to the yoga instructor before class...part of his/her job is to provide modifications and watch her students to make sure they don't injure themselves. You should also let her know that you have had multiple c-sections so s/he can tailor the mods for you. The fast moving classes are tough at first but they get easier when you learn the lingo...watch other students and if you are tired or unsure, rest in child's pose. You can also have the gym recommend a personal trainer who is trained in yoga practice to help walk you through the positions and their modifications and names until you are more comfortable.

ETA I also just wanted to say: go you! I can't imagine making time at the gym with three little ones! Seriously impressed over here!

Honestly, look for a separate yoga studio, not at your gym. I would also look for Iyengar yoga. Lots of props, lots of awesome modifications.

The kids are the biggest reason I'm going and best excuse I've got for NOT going. The gym has childcare. I can leave the boys for up to 2 hours and Lambie for 1 hour. The boys behave like monsters in the childcare and I'm embarrassed when I pick them up and they tell me that they were obnoxious. I have to bribe the boys all kinds of ways to get them to get them to even go into the childcare. Then the childcare is closed from noon-4 which is probably the best time for me to go, right after school/camp pick up when the momentum is already there. K1 starts theatre camp this morning and K2 starts a pre-school camp three mornings weekly next week. I'm going to try going to the gym while they are at camp but it's really the prime time for errands and appointments. Since the gym is not my happy place, this is really really hard.

Just remember that everybody start somewhere. It's discouraging when you can't keep up with the crowd but they were all at one time where you are or at the beginning. Keep going and be easy on yourself

Okay - on my computer now.

The reason would suggest going to a private studio is that the instructors tend to have more training than those at a gym. I know with Iyengar yoga, it takes at least 3-5 years after becoming proficient to become a certified instructor. We use TONS of props (blocks, bolsters, blankets) in class to help ensure that we achieve proper form and to allow modifications.

I did a quick search and there is at least one studio in your area. (not posting here bc it is a public forum)

Push ups are a good way to ease into abs. They engage the core but are active enough to not feel like you are going to die. At least that's what I thought 3 years ago. I tried to do one on my toes and then did as many as I could on my knees with good form. Every day. I still try to do as many as I can on my toes and then drop to knees to finish the rest. Simple but engages the whole body. The upper body strength helps with planks too!

Push-ups are one of the best things u can do. I have a trainer friend and she makes all her clients do them.

Moms? P90x yoga actually taught me a lot of the terms
