Gonna do the 365 Cleanse bundle (it's like 8 pills a day), focus on fresh, whole foods, 1200-1500 calories a day, and cutting out alcohol. That's the key. Two weeks.

Anyone want to join?

I'm on day 7 of Whole30 and hate all the things right now. I miss wine. Hubby thinks I should have a glass this weekend. I'm on the fence.

I've been trying to lose weight pretty unsuccessfully for a few years now. I'm 20+ pounds overweight. I'll lose about 5, keep it off for a little while and then it creeps back up. I admitted this week that all my exercise and tracking (about 80% of the time) is what it takes to KEEP me at this weight, not lose. So either I need to crack down and be more disciplined or accept being this size (I am healthier though, when I was this weight in high school I was 2-3 sizes bigger. But I don't see a difference in photos). When I got back into town this week I felt bloated and the scale jumped considerably. The only consistent calorie sap in my diet is wine. Sure I have snacks and sweets but it's irregular. About a year ago I stopped drinking most days of the week. I didn't lose any weight.

I'm going to Florida in two weeks. I'm not going to weigh myself until then. Maybe not even until I get back in September, we'll see. My main priority right now is to clean out my system and stay within calorie range as much as possible. Hopefully I'll feel so good at the end of it I'll want to maintain the lifestyle.
v-girl I read about that diet on LDW! Holy cow I couldn't do it. Since I've been a nightly drinker for years I'm going to allow myself sweets or snacks so long as I stay within 1200-1500 calories.

I'm down 5lbs since I started August 1. Now, I also have been walking/running daily. I think I took one day off. I go at least 3 miles each time. I've gone over 5.5 miles. I've taken one day off (Sunday). It's kicking my ass and I'm so moody and bitchy to my family and random drivers on the road. DH thinks it's too all or nothing.

It's pretty intense. But if the middle of the road plans don't keep you focused I understand cracking down. Seriously, good for you!! So awesome.

I haven't had any plan work before. I hadn't been able to drop one pound. In June, I did the Advocare 24-Day Challenge and finally lost 2lbs. That seemed to kickstart my body to take things seriously. The last week of July I started walking/running a lot. Lost another 3lbs. I'm still doing the exercise on top of Whole30. I kind of feel like the exercise is causing the weight loss more the diet. I can do without sugar and bread. I can even pass on my beloved cheese. What I don't like is drinking my coffee with no stevia or honey. Blah. And I would like an occasional glass of wine.

I guess that is what's at the root of my "why". Is a lifestyle built on 8 pills a day and drastic calorie reduction really something maintainable? When I hear "cleanse" I think about the lemon juice fasts and things my friends have done in the past, but when the basic premise is that you are doing something outrageously beyond the norm for a temporary measure...where do you go from there?

But I guess doing something crazy sometimes works a treat if you need a reset. I totally feel you with the weight struggles and I super hope that this gets everything going in the right direction for you and long term health and wellness and loving your amazing body!

Ooh no I'm not doing that. I thought I said I'm keeping my normal calorie range, 1200-1500. My diet was starting to degenerate to crap again so I'm recommitting to healthy foods. Made ceviche for dinner tonight, some green beans & pine nuts, and a cucumber salad for the week. I got some ice cream cause I knew I'd be craving sweets. I definitely hit 1500 calories today.

The difference is historically I save 200-500 calories a day for alcohol. That means on those days (if I don't go over) I only have 1000-1200 calories in food. Thus cutting out booze.

1200-1500 is really low, especially if about only 1000 of those calories are reserved for food. Have you considered increasing your calories instead? I'm wondering if the constant restriction has slowed your metabolism a bit. I know weight is a touchy issue and I obviously know nothing about your diet and history with weight loss attempts, but it just seems like so little food.

It's not a lot of food. That said, you can find plenty of threads where I'm whining about the same calorie level. For whatever reason, I don't lose weight unless it's a drastic reduction. I'm old enough and I've worked at losing long enough to know this about me; and sadly it seems my mom and my daughter have he same metabolism. Love food-don't need much to live. Bad combo.

If you are trying to lose, I say eat a LOT of very low calorie nutrition dense stuff. Veggies, etc. That 1000-1200 calories can be gone in the blink of the eye with calorie dense choices. And feeling like you can't ever eat anything is a recipe for failure.

I remember we've commiserated over this before, Angie. rufflesanddots when I go over I gain weight, for sure. Though, I don't typically track calories on the weekends so those are high calorie days. It's not like I was only eating 1000 calories every day. More like 1200-1300 and a glass of wine. Recently I've been going over more consistently and feeling like my body needs the nutrients. That's why I decided to cut out alcohol, so I can have those calories to spend on food.

The cleanse is really a bunch of fiber by what I can tell. I decided to do that after cutting out alcohol. Who knows if it works. I've read several places claiming you needed to do a cleanse about twice a year. The arguments make sense to me, but I don't expect anything drastic. Simply by tightening up my diet and not drinking I'm kind of doing that already.

I feel great regardless. I've felt great all year. And then I see a picture of myself and can't believe I'm as big as I am.
