...Can I even post something like this in here? Is that cheating? 😂

I find myself thinking about it from time to time, mostly to sculpt the dreaded "mommy flap" and some additional hip area.
I'm not even sure if it would make a difference, but I want to believe it would.

I've decided that a lower body lift might be too invasive for my tastes.

Has anyone ventured into this? To add to my confusion, there seems to be many types of liposuction as well. 😳

I've heard of something called cool sculpting that isn't as invasive.

But honestly every time I hear it I think about this

"a fluke accident during routine liposuction"

My concern with liposuction would be that I've heard the fat makes its way somewhere else if you gain again.

In my experience, most of the aesthetic stuff you might be unhappy with, like "mommy flap", is about skin elasticity. You can't necessarily fix that with sucking anything out. I think the options if you're lucky enough to have skin that prefers to sag, is either a surgical lift, or a psychological reboot. I have squish, and pucker. It will always be there. I'm lean now and I've been leaner and am heading that way again, and I find that as I lose and stay hydrated, my belly skin tightens up enough that there's not an area where skin meets skin and traps moisture, but there's an excess and a crepeyness and that's just how it is.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman claims that there are phytonutrients that encourage apoptosis of unneeded fat cells, and discourage atherogenesis (which restricts blood supply to new fat cells.) Like nature's lipo?

Liposuction

Unfortunately, it's not just a flap of loose skin. If it were, I'd tuck it into my pants and stroll happily along. It has fat in it, and while it doesn't hang down per se, it is perpetually there, always.
Just like the extra puff in my hips. In fact, I'd go out on a limb and say it's not that I want it completely eliminated, but sculpted (?) into a smoother line.
I have what looks like, to be perfectly honest, two bulging pockets that sit directly on top of my hips. I look like I have muffin top, without wearing anything that would give me muffin top.

I think I'd do the mommy flap also because once someone did some smoothing in my hips, i believe the stomach would be that much more noticeable.

Liposuction

I forgot about the Clueless reference, haha. Anyway,I went for a consult for SculpSure (apparently the newest alternative to CoolSculpting) and was told I wasn't a great candidate. It was exactly what spottydog mentioned: not enough skin elasticity. Apparently lipo etc would actually make my stomach look worse, boo. So yeah, a mini tummy tuck is in my near future.

Eta: the plastic surgeon I saw said they could get rid of my fat with lipo but that I'd likely be left with wrinkled skin. If the texture really wouldn't bother you maybe it would be an option??? I think you look great but if you're unhappy, I'd go see a plastic surgeon and see what he/she thinks.

I had a full tummy tuck and would do it again. My abd was blown and when I contracted my abd you could still put two fingers through my abd wall and into my stomach. A mini was out of the question. I needed major reconstruction, and no amount of exercise or diet could repair my diastasis or skin. DH didn't think I needed it at the time but supported my decision. He was amazed afterwards and said he could never have imagined how significantly it would change the contour of my body. Honestly, I think he just forgot what it used to look like. It's not for everyone, but it's made me feel better. You should get a professional courtesy discount (roughly 50% off). I had a female surgeon that DH had worked with in breast mastectomy/reconstruction cases. I felt like she was a realist about female bodies, not a perfectionist. A mini tuck should be easy recovery. I had already had four csections so recovery for me was relatively easy.

You do gain weight in other pockets afterwards, but my weight gain has still been more global and balanced than before. I definitely can put more on in my upper atms now, hence the body fat reduction goals. Steadily getting there 😊

Not to make this all about moi but Ladybug thanks for sharing your perspective. Everyone that I've told about my upcoming tuck has either a) judged the everlovin shit out of me; b) told me that the recovery would be hideous; or c) both. Glad to hear another perspective.

Thank you for talking about it, Ladybug!

How did you go about finding the right person? What were the questions you asked? Was the price tag steep?

Also, for what it's worth, while I haven't had lipo, I have had other plastic surgery, and we got a discount too. My dad picked the guy.

Right, I do know whereof you speak. Just sharing my experience that I actually liked my tummy slightly better 15 pounds ago, because it was rounder and more fleshed-out, even if it wasn't round with quite the same distribution as if I were a nubile 20-something who's never been pregnant. Ditching the fat, for me, has meant going from awkwardly round and puckery to awkwardly droopy and crinkled. (Gosh I feel beautiful, using those words. LOL.) So that's why for me, I feel like even after the actual fat is dealt with, a postpartum body (if not genetically endowed with springy skin that snaps back to its optimal location) needs either significant reconstruction or major self-acceptance. And thus, lipo alone wouldn't be a long-term improvement, from my perspective. But regardless of my thoughts, this is YOU we're talking about. I am sure it doesn't hurt to consult with a plastics guy and see what their take is!

Dh took me for a consult to an Albany plastics. I had a consult for the mommy makeover. My stomach bothers me sooooo much. I hate it. My boobs are sad but I can live with them. But the droopy extra skin mommy belly I've got going on, really bothers me. I'm supposed to call and schedule the surgery for August.
She estimates 4 pounds of extra skin would come off. If I did my boobs, I'd use my legs as donor sites, as I'm not interested in implants. I've had three Csections, the recovery doesn't bother me. Ladybug, I saw lucie capec. I told her I had no interest or desire to be something I'm not. After consult and photos she says my weight of 147-150 at 5'6" I'm a perfect candidate, with my expectations. She also said I had killer abs..lol...dying to get out. I'm not sold on doing my boobs tho. But if I'm already there...??

I had a complete belt lipectomy. Basically a tummy tuck all the way around. Recovery was brutal, but it was worth it.
