Starting a thread because I'm being optimistic...

I'm supposed to do the Spartan Sprint (5k obstacle course race) on Saturday. I was doing dips with my trainer this morning, and my sternum... popped. I don't really know how else to describe it. Like when you pop your knuckles, but right in the middle of my chest. It didn't even really hurt, but I could tell something was wrong. We went on to do some just arms stuff, but as I was lifting a weighted ball, it started burning. I quit and went home for Advil and ice.

I admit, I started crying. I've been wanting to do this race for so long, and it wasn't even a chest exercise! I have the most stupid luck! From Dr. Google, it might be fine in 2-3 days, so that's what I'm hoping. I don't want to have to drop out now!! Anyone have any similar experiences, preferably ones that healed quickly?

No experience of this one but you're fit and strong so your chances of a speedy recovery high I'd reckon. Fingers crossed for you.

How are you feeling today? I've had pops and twinges of all sorts, not sure what your chest is up to but I'd be really hopeful about 5 days of rest being a cure. Fingers crossed!

Thank you! It's still tender today, but not burning the way it was yesterday. Starting to feel a little more hopeful!

How are you feeling? Looking good for tomorrow? Did you do a test penalty pushup? Not that you'll need to do any on the course. You're going to rock this!

Slowly getting better, but still too sore to do the race.

Really?! Holy cow! Do you think you'll see someone about it? That really sucks.

Thank you. I'm really bummed. Held out hope until Wednesday, but the amount of pain I had after Six Flags made it clear I wasn't up for 100+ burpees and/or a bunch of upper body obstacles. (I only rode two tame roller coasters and a couple non-thrill rides.)

I probably won't go see anyone. There's not much they can do for a chest injury except tell me to ice it, take ibuprofen, and rest. A friend is trying to talk me into seeing her chiropractor, but they make me nervous. Hoping it's better by next week, but I told her I'd go Monday if it's not improving.
