I've heard good things about Mommastrong. It's not free, but not super expensive, and she does all of her workouts with her kids.

It's official, I'm shrinking. Not sure if I've said this but I stopped weighing myself when I joined CrossFit. I was at my highest weight ever. For the most part I haven't instituted rules about diet but this exercise naturally leads me to protein dense foods. I have cut my alcohol consumption about 40% since those are the only regular empty calories I consume. I'm wearing pants that were too tight last fall. I had these size small Athleta pants I stopped wearing bc they were too tight. I just put them on and they look pretty damn hot. So my butt is shrinking but my chest is still huge, I don't think my boobs have gotten any smaller. Which means I probably haven't even lost weight. I'm already happy but I'll be thrilled when my bras start being too big. Mid August will be 6 months. I think Ive finally cracked the code!! 🙃

          Woot!

Well done! I'm still at it but shifting weight slowly. Love these videos from my rides. Keys me motivated.

ballibeg is that a premium feature? None of my runs are worth of that, but my husband would love it for his rides!

Absolutely free from www.relive.cc . It gets data and photos from Strava. Won't do old rides/runs just those from when you sign up.

OOohh. My kids want me to do one from our hikes this week but I guess we couldn't do that...might be tempted to do it going forward though!

                      • Next week will be my 6 month CrossFit anniversary. I want to lay this out because the theme for this year, largely because of CF, has been learning to confront my fears and do things that I'm not good at. Joining a program where about 50% of the movements were too hard or too scary felt mortifying. That was the first thing I had to get passed, both by caring less what people think and realizing that this isn't some middle school playground. When I've struggled the most at an exercise (usually running) the members have been the most supportive. High fives and words of encouragement from strangers. Nothing forced or overdone, but in a really hard workout the seasoned members help create a feeling of team effort.

In the first session with my trainer I laid out a few reservations and bluntly said "I will not jump." (box jumps are fairly common) This is probably the main reason I took to such a difficult program: I've never once felt condescension or judgement from this trainer. Not that I necessarily felt judgement from my trainer in NC, but I still repeat that time she laughed and said "you really don't like to move quickly do you!" Funny thing is, I think she was trying to get me to do an explosive movement like jumping, which for whatever reason is really scary for me. This trainer said, that's fine, no jumping, and never mentioned it again. I was the one who brought it up about 4-5 months later. I said, I guess it's time to jump. We started with 4 plates, which was enough for the day. Since then we've been building the plates higher and yesterday he ran to get a tape measure to show me how high I'm jumping now.

Last example and I'm done. When I first started I couldn't believe someone was asking me to hang on a bar, let alone hang and try to lift my feet to my hands. After a few weeks I was happy to just hang for 10 seconds. Now I still can't do toes to bar, but I can hang and lift both legs at least waist height, doing as many as the workout requires. As of yesterday I don't need a step stool to get to the bar. My trainer helped me gain the confidence to jump up to hang. It took less than 30 seconds -- he told me to jump and just touch the bar -- and as soon as I did I realized, hey, I can do this. I never would've tried that on my own, and certainly not in class.

I might not ever be the type of person who throws themselves into new movements, and CF certainly hasn't been a miraculous solution to weight loss (read: I'm still overweight). But now suddenly that whole struggle has been neutralized by a feeling of empowerment.
