spotty_dog - ahhh the big toe and plantar type pain was the start for me.

No injections! Orthotics should be used limitedly (in my opinion). You needs to use a Baps board at the PT or I’ve had trainers that use these rts (resistance training specialists) foot rocker things - life changing if you have bad feet. (Mine are bad again, but it’s been two years since I’ve addressed that).

You should slowly work to be comfortable barefoot - but someone needs to make sure that other biomechanical issues aren’t causing the problem. For me - my pelvis causes major foot problems. It’s weird, but everything is related (more
So if you’ve had major surgery messing with your trunk stability).

Anyway, it hard. I think really good PT for sure. And swimming if it isn’t possible. (I have insane eczema- so I can’t swim either. It’s so frustrating!!!).

I am thinking pool exercises OR pilates (but true pilates not that gym mat exercise "feel the burn" crap) may help. As you know, although it hurts to move, moving does help.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Yeah - don’t start with mat. It will be too much. I actually hurt myself pretty badly last year in a mat class. Who knew that was possible? Not the old me!

Do you have any issues with weakness in your abs? Sometimes it can mess your feet up too - it makes a difference for me. I’ve been using a blood pressure cuff under my lower back with my trainer (who is a DPT and does outpatient ortho PT at DH’s hospital, but sees a few clients privately on the side).

Anyway, since he’s leaving (&#128553 I bought one - (we used a regular cuff though - you just need one with long enough tubing to be able to see the gage when the cuff is under your low back).

Chattanooga Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010E7MCJU..._nE1-Ab251DKTD

This thing is like the same, but more expensive, but has an app and website with instructional videos. But really you just need a regular blood pressure cuff thing. PRESSURE BIOFEEDBACK CORE STABILIZER core strength and stability trainer. Easy-read gauge and durable nylon air pillow. Free Video Training + instruction manual, carry bag and mobile training app. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0JHMVS..._rG1-AbWJQ6D8F

Anyway, maybe something to try at home in addition to water stuff? Having weak lower abs can cause so many things to be off - which is painful (I am totally dealing with this now!). And I think a lot of women end up with issues there after children 🙄. So I think it might be a good start, maybe you even have a cuff laying around somewhere? (Regular cuffs are like $12).

I’ve heard good things from my neighbors with bad backs about the oov- it’s some Pilates based an thing. I haven’t tried it. Balanced bodies Pilates makes it. Apparently some PTs are very into them for people with lots of pain everywhere.

Have you considered an anti inflammatory diet? I did one once to lose weight, but was amazed by how good I felt. I keep meaning to try one again... it’s hard though. I really can’t find time to meal prep in this house with no walls. (I can’t really make noise in the kitchen because the kids hear while sleeping- it’s really annoying). But it’s on my to do list! Maybe jut start small by adding turmeric and/or ginger into your diet. Then slowly start making more changes?

Pain is a super sucky thing. I totally understand now how we ended up with such an opioid epidemic in this country. It’s really hard and expensive for people to get the help they need.

So far for surgeries, have you just had c-sections? Just curious.

Have you tried seeing a physiatrist (not that I think they are helpful or will suggest more than water exercise and things mentioned here. Was just curious).

Is there any reason to think it’s nerves or something? (DH always tries to convince me that my problem is nerves related... it’s not really. It’s mostly bad surgery, bad rehab and toddler related... &#129303.

I kinda wanna kick him too. We hysterical women. I haven’t seen a physiatrist, seen a podiatrist or tried orthotics or PT. My only surgeries have been c-sections. I did also notice that I have weakness in my hand and can’t write. Thomas told me I’ve been talking slowly too. I think I’m unconcentrated from spending so much time on my phone?

I know - right. I think it’s mostly because I did all the work to move and always lifted the heavier kid. And. No one helps with anything!!!! (Sorry I’m getting so sick of asking for help and it making things worse. People suck!).

but actually, there is this weird nerve entrapment thing that can happen. I did have this bad right side injury like a year and a half ago and I have had some weird issues since. I totally think he is wrong, but I finally said I would go talk to the doctor (last time I went they ordered an x-Ray... of my stomach? I was annoyed and didn’t go). I’m about to spend a ton of money flying to get someone to help me, so I’ll at least rule this out. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt anything - most of the time people seem to make things worse for me!

Anyway - really. Try the blood pressure cuff exercises if you have access to one. That website will have videos - or check YouTube. I think lower abs are usually a good/safe place to start (it could kind of be because of my personal injury, but I think a lot of PTs would agree ). Then once that’s kind of working, you should work on glutes and hamstrings a little. And then think about feet. At least that’s how things have made the most sense for me. (I have less joint pain and more muscle pain - at least I think).

When my pelvis is off, my feet suck. My back hurts, my shoulders do crazy things (like my right scapula wings) - it’s a big issue for me. When it’s good, my feet just need strengthening. Orthotics kind of made it hard for me to have my pelvis in the right place - but I think as a short term fix, it’s fine. I just think you have to be careful not to rely on them too long.

But yeah. Blood pressure cuff abs, water exercise, ginger and turmeric. I think it would help some. Then in a bit once you’re feeling better, maybe some yoga and careful Pilates.

I’ve read a bunch about collagen peptides lately... I don’t know, it’s probably total BS. But because yours seems to be more joints, maybe it could help?

There is also some weird popular thing here called a Bemer pad. It seems insane, but I actually kind of want to try it. It’s like some bs electromagnetic mat thing... again, probably BS, but if it helps a little to get you on the right path, i feel like it doesn’t matter if it’s silly. (I think it’s more harmless than all sorts of other stuff like cupping etc).

This is super crazy, but I listen to it all the time now because once my mom told me there was something on about toddler sleep when we having a bad stretch and then I realized that so many of our friends have shows on it, and it makes me laugh...

Anyway, there is this Sirius station called doctor radio (you can stream it for free), but you could totally call into healthy aging or rehabilitation and get advice from them. They have interesting experts on too that might be helpful. You never know. Anyway, it’s interesting to me - but everyone knows that pain sucks and no one knows what works. But they have some ideas...

I understand that osteoarthritis causes so much pain and the only way that I know to relieve painful joints and stress is to maintain a healthy weight. You may also try medications and pain reliever like acetaminophen.
