  • What's for dinner?

    I'm getting bored with cooking.

I'm soaking a pot of red beans right now. I'm going to make a pot of Red beans with Andouille sausage and rice.

DH is on call tonight, so I'll probably just have Spaghetti O's. You can laugh at me. He does. But they're tasty!

          Left over lasagna, yum!

I eat all sorts of weird stuff when my husband is on-call. Kraft mac and cheese is my favorite. Or sometimes I just have cheese and crackers and wine.

I'm thinking about doing shrimp with...something. I'm not good at dinner planning.

I'm not good at dinner planning either - of course then I plan something and DH doesn't come home. I just need to start making dinner for the kids and I and he can eat leftovers.

Anyway, I found these two sites which have helped me.

Recipematcher, this one lets you catalog everything that is in your pantry and then it spits out recipes that require no, or very little purchasing. I've found its kind of short on recipes so I only use it about once/month when I find my pantry is out of control.

Mealsmatter is the other one and I like this one because you can use your recipes or add your own and you can then add them to your calendar click a button and it creates a shopping list which you can then edit before you print it.

Steak and brie cheese pizza for the grown ups, Cheese Pizza for the kids.

Saute garlic, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and steak strips in a pan. Add to a refrigerated pizza crust. Voila, an easy grown up version of pizza.

Out to dinner tonight Red beans and rice sounds amazing, but DH won't eat it. Heidi's french onion soup either tomorrow or Friday! I do a lot of roasted chicken/fish with various sauces.

DD1 has a band concert tonight, so lord only knows what we'll snag before we head out. It will most likely be a "fend for yourself" night.

Parmesan breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans for the adults. Probably chicken nuggets and applesauce for the boys.

Breakfast for dinner - I overheard something about pancakes with raspberries, sausage and eggs, yum! DH is in charge of dinner the next two nights as I try to finish a term paper.

L.Jane: I've been known to eat cereal, smoothies or dessert for dinner when DH is on call.

5 guys! DH came and picked me up from work and we went on the way home. Small plain bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was very yummy.
