I made HoW's black beans with a ham shank a couple weeks back and froze the extras, so I defrosted those and made some brown rice last night. Nothing else. We've been eating at 9 pm lately so there's a lot of last-minute easy food going on. Like frozen stuff from TJs. Love their tamales! It's starting to drive me crazy that DH will call at 7-ish and say he's almost done and coming home soon -- so of course I wait and don't eat without him. Then he actually gets home at 8:30, and every night some minor catastrophe prevents us from eating for another 1/2 hour (last night I made him vacuum while I heated up dinner, and we had too many appliances going at once and blew a circuit... which means a trip to the creepy basement). And we're trying to go to bed earlier, so we keep going to bed with full stomachs, and honestly, I can't sleep like that. Ugh. DH is coming home tired and just wants to eat and go to sleep, then he's out the door at 6 am or earlier... I on the other hand can hardly get up and get any work done in the AM and find myself wanting to clean the apartment or go for a run at 9 or 10 pm. We are not in sync. And I'm rambling. Tonight he's supposed to get done at a reasonable time, and the temp is supposed to go down by tomorrow, so I think I'll make mushroom risotto. I should go to the store and get some salad mix or another veggie side, but I probably won't.

I have a 7:30 yoga class tonight so I think it'll be a frozen pizza shell and whatever veggies are left over. I have a regular supply of pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese.

Going out with friends to a winery (live music tonight). It is *really* hot, but I am looking forward to a "grown-up" evening.

DH grilled some burgers I seasoned, formed, and froze last week, and there are rosemary olive oil oven fries in the toaster oven. Yum.

My parents were here helping us get stuff done around the house, so we got takeout from an Indian place nearby that my mom had been wanting to try. SO good!

It's in my little suburb. JalapeƱos. We go almost weekly. LOL

My little 'burb has some pretty great restaurants. My favorite French restaurant and bakery, a fabulous crepe place, lots of family places. Food-lover paradise. We even have a Cajun restaurant and bar.

Tonight I'm giving crock pot roasted chicken a try. If there's any easy, hands-off way to have fresh, home made roasted chicken during the week, count me in. I rubbed it with a fresh herb blend and stuck a little bit of garlic-thyme butter between the breasts and skin. As long as DH can handle turning the crock pot on at 3:00, I'm hoping we'll have a delicious dinner tonight. Roasting some Brussels sprouts after I get home is all the work I'll have to do, so that makes me one happy wife.

Only just finally made the mushroom risotto tonight. Threw in some sliced sweet basil chicken sausage. Delicious!
