Yes indeedy. I have at least a glass of red wine daily. We have a Washington only wine shop in town and I really like exploring what our state has to offer and what its vintners can concoct. I don't have a very refined palate so a well-aged Cab makes me perfectly happy, but DH has a better nose and loves a powerful Syrah or Zin.
I will typically order the house red but DH often splurges and gets us a bottle of mid-range cab at dinner.
There's a region of the Columbia Valley in Washington called the Wahluke Slope. I've yet to be disappointed by a wine with grapes from this area. There are also a couple of wineries producing amazing blends. Bookwalter Subplot and Long Shadows Nine Hats are two great ones, and although even a varietal wine changes from year to year with the growing conditions, these blends are completely re-invented concoctions every year so it's really fun to explore them.
ah! have you had buty yet? im halfway across the country and their semillon blend has been my fav for months. if it werent something like $26 a bottle id drink it on the reg. seriously, a trip to WA may be in order just to visit their winery.
do you drink wine? how often?
Yes, a glass 2-4 nights a week.
red or white? sweet or dry?
Red unless it's blazing hot outside. My go-to reds are Zinfandel - preferably Dry Creek or Russian River Valley, smaller producers, more balanced, less of a fruit bomb than a Gnarly Head or 7 Deadly. For a bigger brand, Rosenblum is usually good. I love Zin but I don't like feeling like I'm drinking jam. Second up is an ultra-dry Bordeaux or Cotes du Rhone, and third is a balanced Sonoma Cab Sauv. Other than the Zin, I like them dry dry dry. I'll drink whites in hot weather, and they must be ultra-dry, tart, and aged in stainless steel. Oak in white wine disgusts me. Stainless aged Sauv Blancs are my go-to white.
do you tend toward a particular country or region?
Sonoma and Bordeaux.
if you go out to dinner or a bar, what do you typically order?
More cocktails recently, but otherwise one of the aforementioned wines.
what is your favorite wine these days?
Lately I've been enjoying whatever Bordeaux reds are on sale at the wine store.

My typical order is a New Zealand Savion Blanc. I prefer dry white wines. DrK is partial to Cabernet. I don't drink wine nearly as often as I should. I intend to change that.
