This is Khaled Hosseini's follow-up to his first book, The Kite Runner. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. At least as good as - if not better than - The Kite Runner. The story covers three decades of anti-Soviet jihad, civil war and Taliban tyranny through the lives of two women. If you liked The Kite Runner, you'll love this book.
As an aside: I just read an interview with the author in Entertainment Weekly, apparently he's trained as a doctor (internist). He seems to have such a gift for writing, I was so surprised to read that he has a medical background. He's been on sabbatical from medicine since 2004, and hasn't decided yet if he's going to return.
