On a related note, people who can be reading several books at once amuse me. That's talent! I tried two books once and couldn't do it. I have to read a book cover to cover, and only then can I start another one. Although, on second thought, maybe I'm the weird one...
I have read myself to sleep every night since I was a kid. It focuses my brain on what I'm reading, rather than letting it flit around to anything and everything else. My body's been trained that lying down with a book = time to sleep. There are nights I don't get through a whole page before I drop off; books NEVER keep me awake if I'm tired, no matter how gripping they are. IF you have insomnia and need to practice better sleep hygiene, not reading in bed is something they'll suggest you try, but it's not a bad thing in and of itself.

I've got a few (mostly longer, mostly non-fiction) books I'm kindof in the middle of, while the main book I'm reading is part of a YA time travel series...but for the most part I don't read multiple novels at once. I would imagine that if I had audio books I listened to during my commute, I would be reading a different book at night, and that wouldn't bug me, because of the totally different contexts.

I can't do audio books, I have to actually look at words or I don't process. Usually I'll read in bed, a restaurant if I'm eating by myself, and standing in lines.
