I need to meet more people! I have resolved to join a band (concert style, not rock style ), do some volunteer work, and hopefully find a softball team.
I don't know if something you're contemplating can really be a resolution, but I'm contemplating a second stab at grad school.
And the perpetual resolution of going to the gym more often.
Haha, right, meet the iMSNer who lives less than a mile from me. Good plan.
Julia - legislative process lover and general government nerd, married to a PICU & Medical Ethics attending, raising a toddler son and expecting a baby daughter Oct '16.
To get cards mailed for everyone's birthday and anniversaries. I've been so horrible about this. I want to make everyone feel remembered this year.
This is on my list too! (My mom's tip is to mail all cards for the month on the 1st of the month - it still hasn't worked for me, but maybe it'll help you.)
The rest of my list is:
- learn to have more patience with Daegan
- continue the good eating, but try to do it cheaper
To finish level 2 of the Master Knitter program. It's a correspondence course, you have to knit a bunch of samples to show techniques, knit an argyle sock, a fair isle hat, and design and knit a vest. I've joined a support group on ravelry for it.
To get back into making art - I signed up for a drawing class - haven't taken one for 13 years.
To treat myself well.
That is so cool! I have thought about doing it myself but I HATE intarsia and would have to really work at it. How much is the course?
I don't make New Year's resolutions. Don't know why. I guess I take the resolutions I make (which aren't many) really seriously. I make them whenever I am ready to commit to them, as versus on an arbitrary day on the calendar that is supposed to be the "day it all changes." Too much pressure.
I can't think about major changes right now, anyway. I have too much on my plate. Between DH being gone for six months, to then come back and begin the dreaded chief year, and to then move away again for a year for fellowship...tacked on with a full-time job, two (and soon to be three) kids, etc...I feel like I will be lucky to keep it together. I don't have time to make myself a better person. I just want to survive. I don't need to thrive. hahahaha!
The first is to remember that I actually support my husband in his decision to go to DC for the epilepsy fellowship. (It's actually called something else like Epilepsy and Neuro-something something but as you can see I've sort of blanked on it.) I just have to remind myself that it's not like the Iraq thing. I mean DC can be dangerous but they're not typically mortered every day.
2) A bunch of the neighbor ladies have decided to do a triathlon so I'll be adding that to the training.
3) I'm going to sign up for German classes at the local German beer hall. I hope it will help me with the German genealogy stuff I'm doing. and the beer is $2/pint.
I don't usually do resolutions because I aim to high and I never get there. So my one resolution/promise for this year is that by December 31st I want to be in the best shape of my life (to that point) or at least as good of shape as when I was an active athlete in high school. I wonder if its possible without changing my eating habits though, I LOVE to eat. Not that I over eat but I like to eat good food and I'm not willing to give up carbs, etc. so we'll see.
Good luck everyone!
Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.
Just checking in on this. I did the P90x abs yesterday and the cardio tonight. I don't think I will be able to move in the morning. He did moves that I didn't know the human body could do. Seriously, go from a wide squat to a jump? I just laughed.

Yay--another P90xer. The abs are killer--I don't do more than 60% of the moves. Are you talking about Cardio X as far as the squat jump thing goes? I don't remember it--is it one of the plyo moves?

Sweet! Is it sprint or olympic distance? (I wont do anything longer than a sprint because I refuse to get in a lake) I'm signed up for one on March 14th
Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
