  • Kris, I dont know either. D wears me out.

Today: I am DONE. After a hellish month of working all day, and starting back up when the kids get to bed, I. Am. Done. I'm a wreck, the house is a wreck, we have almost no food...lots to catch up on tomorrow. But I'm done!! (for a few days...)

    • Oh, Kris. That sounds so scary. I've done that too. Usually while holding K1's 32lb brother on my hip. I've told K1 very plainly that he cannot stray from me in parking lots/go in the street because "a big car can take you away and you will never see mommy or daddy or K2 again and mommy will be sad forever." I've belabored this point and gone on and on about how he will never eat ice cream again, go to the park again, see another fire truck, etc. if a car takes him. I've explained it in this way because death is too foreign a concept to him at this age and he doesn't understand that being squished by a car will result in irreversable injury. But he does understand the threat of loosing things he loves and making mommy sad. I hate to traumatize him but it's important enough that I want him to be afraid to run in the street. He's got it now and says things like "I don't want the car to take me."

      • I explained that the car would run her over and compared it the how much it hurts when her brother steps on her fingers.

        • DH unintentionally covered the topic on a walk when dd spotted a road kill squirrel and had 1 million questions. Now she associates cars/parking lots w/the squished squirrel.

          • Seriously, it's the effing fours. My DD is throwing far more tenacious tantrums these days when she doesn't get her way than she ever did when she was younger. In fact, we had a parking lot incident yesterday, when I thought that we had holding hands in parking lots down PAT. Yeesh.

My mom always told me I'd be squished like a bug. I thought that was overly morbid and never planned to use it with my kids. Guess what's part of my parking lot lecture now? "Do you see that car? Do you see it? That car will SQUISH you like a BUG."

            • Today, I am so proud and happy for my kid who has struggled with her gymnastics this year and was on the verge of quitting. (I silently wished she would). She turned on in the end of the season and obtained her goal of medaling in the state meet today.

                        • Today, I am exhausted and impatient and it's just past 8:30AM. K2 (21mo) stripped naked, climbed out of his crib, and streaked through the house, screaming and giggling, at least a dozen times between 8PM and 11PM last night keeping K1 awake too. Adorable, yet frustrating. I finally had to sit in their room, forcing him back into his crib over and over, until they both fell asleep sometime before midnight. When we all woke at 5:45 this morning, I caught my naked toddler attempting a fresh escape. I don't know why he has to be naked to climb out of his crib. He's been climbing on tables and bathroom sinks this morning, biting and pinching his brother, and just plain naughty all morning. This could be a very long day.
