Yes, I sported "mall bangs" too.

RE: Showing our age. True story... several weeks ago I was zipping around in my new minivan with the windows down jamming it out to Pat Benetar's "Hit me with your best shot" when a young twenty something guy pulled up next to me. He gave me a look that spoke volumes. It hit me that I am not some young thing and that the chasm of a generational gap between us was enormous. Fortunately, I LOVE being married and being a mom so I can laugh off what an uber-dork (er.... uber-dweeb) that I am.

Anyone up for watching the "Breakfast Club", "St. Elmo's Fire", "Red Dawn", or "Goonies" this weekend?

Speaking of thinking your cool when your really just showing your age....

DH has attended both a Van Halen and Kiss concert in the last year. The entire audience was thirty something dads with thinning hair and belly paunches.

Ah, "Breakfast Club" and "Goonies"....quite possibly the two best movies ever made!

One of my friend's dated Emilio Estevez up until a few months ago. My husband always would tell me, "Well, being Emilio's girlfriend may have been a cool thing in the 80's, but now...."

I never have seen Goonies, to my dh's astonishment. If it's on this weekend (is it?) I'll try to tune in. I do watch Breakfast Club any chance I get.

I LOVED the Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid! Remember the Mon-Chee-Chees (I can still sing the inane song that is just their name repeating over and over and over) or Muppet Babies?

Molly Ringwald was totally a household name.

And, then there were totally cool words like, "Rad" as in "Radical".

Remember "The Last Starfighter"? "The Dark Crystal" (scared me half to death as a kid)? "The Secret of NIMH"?

Remember when the Flock of Seagulls hairdo was actually "in"?

Remember "Video Killed the Radio Star" when MTV first started up?

              Ahhhh....
