  • movie lines applicable to medicine

DH and I have a few movie lines that we have slightly altered to make them apply to residency:

    From StarWars

Yoda: "When 800+ years you reach, look as good you will not!"

Surgery Resident in Yoda voice: "When 7+ years of residency you reach, look as good you will not!"

    From The Firm

wife of partner to prospective associate's wife:

"The Firm encourages children, it keeps the wives around".

Translates to "The program encourages children, it keeps the wives around".

In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

From Toy Story while watching Sid perform "surgery" on Hannah's doll:

"I don't think that man's EVER been to medical school."

In our life, referring to a multitude of things:

"I don't think that man's EVER been to medical school."

No alteration here. From Jim Carrey's character in Dumb and Dumber to the undercover cop: I don't know.....and I DON'T CARE!

That would be DH to particularly histrionic pts. Good thing he switched specialties.

Or me if he complains too much.
