Hi everyone! I started posting on another thread, but at another poster's suggestion I thought I'd introduce myself here. I'm a newlywed of about 4 months, and I'm currently a post-bacc premedical student and my husband is a 3rd yr med student. We live in the Chicago area and are 24 and 28, respectively. I was previously in a PhD program in clinical psychology but left with my MS because of a bunch of reasons--mostly because I realized that I am very clinically-focused and a research degree was not a good match for me. I'm really excited about going into medicine, and I'll likely do a peds-focused speciality that deals with acute care. I also have interests in radiology and anesthesiology, so we shall see!
3rd year has been a huge adjustment for my DH because he's an MD/PhD student and has been out of the game doing research for a while. At this point he's not sure whether he'll do a residency or a post-doc when he's done with med school. Our biggest issue right now is when to have children (which is what I posted about on the other thread). It's something that we talk about almost every day, and it's very hard to fathom waiting 6 yrs until I'm in residency. It definitely doesn't seem like there's any great time to do it, but we're determined to make it work, whenever it happens!
