I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Dures and I am currently dating Jay, a 4th year medical student. He & I are presently in a long-distance relationsip I'm working FT + going to MBA school in CA, while he is in med school in PA. We've been dating since right after his 1st year of med school and all of my Business school time. (I"m in my 2nd and final year.) So we've been together a little over two years now.
I love him dearly and he is my best friend. We've talked about getting married between his first and second year of residency. But an LDR - esp. one involving an MD or soon-to-be MD - can be such a struggle. We've definitely had our ups & downs. For example, we've both been under the stresses of school and work - even more so lately. I barely got to talk to him in the final three weeks before he took Step 2 Boards. (He took them a few weeks ago.) It would've been nice to study together or just be "there" for each other as we both stress out. He's already submitted his applications for residency. He wants to go into Neurology, which is an Early Match. This means he's got to have his Match List submitted by Jan 22,2003 and Match Day for them is January 31, ; so now he's prepping for interviews. (Big Sigh.) Will the work never end?
Well, I'm rambling now; so I"ll stop. From all the posts, it sounds as if everybody is just sooo supportive and encouraging. I"m going to really like it here. I don't know how much advice I can give to you "seasoned" veterans, but I"m looking forward to just lending an ear or giving support.
Take care everybody
