    Just for clarification - he's MD/PhD, and was just accepted to an 8 year PGY program?? If that's correct, you're a saint. Many of us have been dragged through 6 to 8 years PGY, but most of our spouses tacked in on in pieces ...

      That's right. He's finishing his MD/PhD (just 2 more rotations to go, PhD is done.) Then he'll be doing 8 PGY years. I'm no saint though...I've gone through my periods of resenting this whole thing for sure. But now I think I've come to embrace it (for the most part)...maybe thinking of it more as "climbing the medical-scientist ladder" rather than "training". And trying to focus on the advantages (example: I'm excited about the cost of living in Minnesota as opposed to California!). Otherwise, it would just be depressing.
