Hello!
The verdict is in, and thus web site is GREAT! I have been perusing it for a few days now, and I think that it is about time that I introduce myself. My name is Kelley and I am about to start my second year of law school and my first year in a master's program in political science. My husband has just begun his third year of residency in neurosurgery. We live in Pittsburgh, Pa and moved here from Charlottesville, Virginia jusst over two years ago. What a trip this has been!
I must applaud Kelly's piece on medical marriages in the newsletter, as I could completely relate!! Although we do not have children yet, we do have two very big dogs and a house and I am one of those people who gets lonely very easily. After two absolutely miserable years of wanting to give up and move back to New York where my family and many of my friends live, I finally realized that I have to have my OWN life here. It took two years of therapy, Paxil, and career counseling, but I am finally on the road to well-being. (Sorry to be so open during my first post, but I think that it is important for others out there to know that things get tough, but you CAN over-come!)
I actually hated law school, but after a summer to think about it (and get away from it), I have decided to go back and pursue something where I can actually help people. This is good, as most law students just want to sue doctors and make big bucks, so the jobs are there for those who don't want that lifestyle. I am okay making little money and actually feeling good about myself at the end of the day!
Also, I am in the process of starting up a spouses' group here in Pittsburgh. I REALLY do not want ANYONE else to go through what I went through, and so I am trying to do something to support others like me! I am getting TONS of ideas from you and from this site, so THANK YOU!!
Can't wait to get to know more of you better!!
