  • Welcome!

Welcome on behalf of the Admins of Medical Spouses.

(That's Kris- the one who brilliantly made all of this possible whilst going to school and teaching and being a mom, Kelly- our power lawyer and mom to one and a half babes, Sally- our voice of reason in all of the madness who stays sane despite three boys, Luanne- nurse extraordinaire and the one who reminds us that kids do eventually grow up, Nellie- our editor-in-chief, lead writer, and copy setter in addition to her mom job, Thu Van- who really should be doing stand up but instead is biding her time getting material from her kids- and of course from all of us and our psychoses, and me- Jenn, a crazy redhead from DC who has a job far too complicated to explain- in addition to my 'other job', my beloved husband.)

We try to welcome everyone but sometimes you all show up too quickly to keep up!

Please feel free to post, not post, skip around, read the FAQs, whatever. If you have suggestions for the site, let us know. If you'd like to volunteer with the newsletter, by all means, let Nellie know. If you have computer expertise and would like to help Kris (please, the rest of us are utterly useless to her) let her know.

We have very few rules and those we have we rarely need to enforce.

First, we are here as a support. When there is a large group of people whose only commonality (on paper, anyway) is our spouse's jobs, there will be diverse opinions. Please be respectful of that diversity.

Second, we have recently discovered that politics is not a subject that can be debated- not here anyway. We encourage everyone to get involved with the "political machine" because medicine is a hot topic. If you want to get steaming mad, just listen to either Fox News or Air America (depending on your political leanings) and email them.

Third, feel free to post pictures, ask questions, be yourself. But remember, the medical world is small, so don't post anything here that you wouldn't want your spouses' boss' spouse to read. We have no idea who everyone "is"! But, please post away, because you can always stay anonymous!

Again, welcome and we look forward to getting to know all of you.

    Jenn

Ok, so what I said last year....

But seriously, JOIN IN. We get tired of 'hearing' ourselves speak.

Hi, I'm Susan. My husband and I are newlyweds...married about 8 months ago. He is a general intern right now in New York, but we (with our kitty) are relocating to LA this summer for his ophthalmology residency. It was difficult the first few months as he got used to his crazy schedule but we are now doing ok. Any other ophthalmology spouses out there?
