Congratulations on almost being finished! If you don't mind me asking, what put off having baby #1 in ms4? Was it just a timing thing, or did you rethink what year you wanted to start a family?

Infertility. We started trying to get pregnant in November of MS3, and ended up doing fertility treatments because I didn't ovulate on my own. I got pregnant in September of MS4 but miscarried at 8 weeks, then got pregnant again in March and had my daughter in November of PGY1. It ended up being great, because we moved to my home town for residency (also not the original plan, but the match is fun like that). We had no problems getting pregnant with #2, who showed up during PGY3, but he has a complex heart defect which has made things challenging too. He's doing great now, but it's something we'll always have to deal with. So, long story short...plans are good, but be prepared to be flexible if they don't work out.

Hi and Welcome! I found this site when dating my DH in his 4th year of medical school... Its been a decade later this fall... holy crap... with residency and fellowship and now he is an attending and we have a three year old. I had my son right before residency ended. I don't really suggest having a kid 9 weeks before a cross country move, but it worked for us.
