Anyway, I just feel really disappointed, confused, and dissatisfied right now--basically the quarter-life crisis.

Catina, I sort of did that during the NCAA tournament one year. I had no idea that Holy Cross was outside of Boston and I was in Boston on business so I took a friend with me to watch the game we were the ONLY people in the ENTIRE bar cheering for KU - and we almost lost, it was fun! 8)Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

From a Recruiter's perspective...
Veggie,
I can't believe no one has suggested this yet, but why don't you TEACH?! I think that the best way to start feeling better about yourself is to make others feel better. Plus, teaching (or school counseling, etc) meets your qualifications that you stated as:
1. not a desk job
2. a nurturing, not adversarial career (unlike law)
3. a job where I have contact with people a lot
4. a job where my ideas and input are valued
5. a job with a high level of responsibility
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second the teaching idea. I never imagined that I'd end up a high school teacher, but it's the most rewarding (and lowest paying) job I've had. My CV is four pages long, and I've got lots of letters after my name, but I think all that credential stuff helps me have more confidence and makes me a more effective teacher.Enabler of DW and 5 kids

Third the teaching idea. At a private school, as was said earlier.
I teach undergrad classes in German and love it. I don't think I could do high school, because I wouldn't want to deal with parents, but definitely--teaching is so fulfilling in many ways.married to an anesthesia attending
