Re: 1 in 6 homeowners are upside down now...
When we rented in Boston for fellowship, we had to bring our dog in for an "interview". We had the apartment, willing landlords "if the dog was OK" and our dog was in a kennel back in Baltimore. We jumped in the car and drove down to get her and returned by the next morning.
It's amazing what you will do for an apartment. Pets can be a nightmare. I remember that I almost cried when the rental agent we spoke to told us we'd have to "lose the dog" if we expected to find anything in the city to rent. That wasn't happening after 14 years with her!!! I'm so glad it worked out. Our fourteen year old border collie performed very well in her interview. She arrived, licked the landlord's hand and went to sleep on the floor for the next half hour while we signed contracts. Perfect dog as far as he was concerned. She's passed on now. Miss her.
