Cat Person or Dog Person?

Meh, that's what soap is for. And the tree boas don't get big enough to eat bunnies, at least not the big boy we have. You'll come over, you'll hold them, and you'll LOVE them!

I actually like both but DF thinks cats are "evil and sneaky". My mom has two cats and DF knows their names but he just calls them "cat". As in, "Cat, I'm making a sandwich, stop nuzzling the romaine". It seriously is hilarious!

Both. We have two of each. I grew up with dogs,cats, turtles, horses, and pigeons!!!! Yes, we had homing pigeons, or at least my dad and brother did.

I grew up with cats and hated dogs as a kid. Now I have a dog and DH is allergic to cats, so no hope in getting one. So, I guess I'm both now? Dogs are great because they are always super excited to see you. But, nothing beats a cat's purr.

Cats, cats, cats a thousand times over. We have a dog, and he is a constant source of annoyance to me, although on a certain level I feel sorry for him. SO NEEDY! I don't need more neediness in my life. I love the independent attitude of cats.

I loved dogs, until I had kids. Now, if I never laid eyes on a dog again it would suit me just fine. Too needy, and I am all needied out. We have 2 (idiot!) dogs that DH loves and I tolerate, and 2 awesome rat murdering cats. The cats are so patient with the kids. It is not unusual to see one wearing doll clothes and riding in a stroller. The dogs are jackasses who regularly knock down my toddler, eat toys, and scratch the woodwork in the house. But DH must have them, you know- for all the fun they are for him the 10 minutes each day he spends with them

The cats are so patient with the kids. It is not unusual to see one wearing doll clothes and riding in a stroller.

I've had two cats like this! I wish the cat I have now had that kind of personality, but I think she'll be okay with Baby. She doesn't play with kids, but she stays well out of reach, so I don't have to worry about keeping my eye on her all the time when people bring them over. I love low-maintenance pets!

Dogs all the way, baby. I used to love boxers but now I'd like a Weimerramer, although I'd probably have to take the time to learn how to spell it correctly. It's not going to happen because DS's allergies.

Dogs are total lovers with complete unwaiverting adoration. If only all relationships could go this way.

I'm also a none-of-the-above person. I never had pets growing up and can't fathom cleaning up after one voluntarily. DH desperately wants a dog, but we have agreed that will only happen if he chooses a specialty that allows him to be available to walk a dog twice a day, every day. This would constitute a win-win situation.

HATED cats with a passion all of my childhood, due to severe allergies. Then, i went to the pound to look for a dog when first married, and a guy came in with a flee-ridden 1 week old kitten he found on the street. The pound couldn't take care of her (didn't have staff to nurse kitties at that time) and they said they'd have to put her down. I couldn't stand for it, took her home, nursed her with a bottle 4 times a day for 8 weeks, and she became my first baby. My allergies never overtook me enough to want to give up my baby. Now, we have a sister kitty for her, and I take nasal spray. They love our new baby, and they still sleep with us every night. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

And now I don't think dogs are that great. I guess we're definitely now a cat family.

I love bottle baby kitties! Does she still knead? I think they are so sweet when they've been bottle fed. Not that I would ever want kittens to lose their mommy, but it's a great reward for the people who nurse them if it does happen.

It was just my experience with cats. Maybe I've got it backward. Maybe cats are generally very loving, attentive creatures...that happen to find ME to be standoffish and remote...so they ignore me to avoid rejection...

We have a sweet, and REALLY DUMB--I mean, sack of stones stupid--cocker spaniel named Zoe. She's so dumb that when she needs to go out, she sits under the front window and whimpers. Not by the door, by the window. We live on the 4th floor. Never once have we opened the window and plummeted four stories down, to take her out. Yet, that's where she sits. It's no where NEAR the front door.

This is the funniest thing I have read today. Thank you again Abigail. I can always trust you and Jenn H to have the best stories.

YES! I love that my dog is needy and that she looks at me like I'm the most important person in the world to her (even though I'm not tramp!). Maybe I'll change my mind once I have kids and I get tired of being needed, but I doubt it. My DH could take lessons from my dog in how to be needy and express gratitude.

I'm the opposite of Heidi. I like both, but I'd choose dogs if I couldn't have both.

We have both dog and cat...I am just an animal person in general.
