I would have guessed high school graduation and lo and behold I would have been right! and highest teenage birthrate, too. We're usually right with Alabama and Mississippi with most literacy and social service programs.

I live in Ohio. Surprised it was the nerdiest. I was thinking "most obsessed with American football" would be more appropriate.

I looked at the map before reading the thread and I could only get a tiny picture on my phone. I thought, "no...that looks like bestiality. No. Couldn't be my new home state that I am falling deeper and deeper in love with." Ugh. Way gross! I had to giggle at Utah. Especially after working near Provo.

Unfortunately, "Homeless Population" for Oregon is true. In grad school I took a class titled "Hunger and Homelessness in Oregon". It is a huge, huge problem here.

              States I've lived in:

Utah - So true. When you try to forbid something and put covers on issues of Cosmo in the grocery stores, when you have a large majority of prudes, the sex drive wins out and porn is the answer.

New York - Not so much in Albany, but I can see it.

South Carolina - Highest number of two-faced, low-life, scum sucking, inbred, piece of shit, raging assholes is it's real claim to fame.

Florida - Identity theft. Sheesh. Better be careful!

p.s. My son saw this map on my phone, and I had to explain what bestiality was to him after I had just expained what douche was. Ahhhh, proud day.

It's funny when I read random "answers" out to Russ and didn't connect them with states, he easily picked up on Louisiana and STDs....apparently it has one of the highest syphilis rates in the US too. He saw lots of eye STD cases during his residency.

Florida and identity theft. I wonder if it's a combo of illegal immigrant stuff in south Florida and preying on all the old people. When my mom worked in the school system, she said there were always a bunch of students she suspected all had the same documentation. All had variations on the same name and paperwork would be missing a middle name, or had an addition of one, or the last name would be a letter off, or something.

New Mexico is the most ant-social? Because of a lack of social health programs? I think New Mexico just likes to fly under the radar and be left alone...

Michigan: Terrible at road repair and economic diversity.

Illinois: Corrupt as hell and crushing taxes.

Florida, I would have to say crime. The crap rolls downhill and ends up here. Love the sunshine and lack of income taxes.

Yeah, I'll second he road repair thing for MI. WTH is up with that? Indiana, too. The roads are horrible.

The roads in CA were unbelievably great in comparison to what we were driving on in Chicago. I know the drastic temperature changes don't help with roads in the Midwest, but please... Roads aren't made properly here. Germany can school the US on adequate construction.

I forgot how great the roads out west are until we returned home last. Even up in the mountain passes where they deal with far more snow than Chicagoland, the roads were great. C'mon Midwest, get it together!

Actually, it is apparently a Chicago corruption issue--companies were doing shoddy jobs for kickbacks. The joy of Chicago politics. My Chicago-based family hates it.

That's exactly it. They plan how long the roads will last so they will need repair again (job security).
