OMG, that would be so hot! Although if anywhere has the stadiums and the economic support, it's Texas...

It's the "only" in that sentence that scares me.

        • Yeah T&S that was my first thought too...but Atlanta had them. Not much cooler. I don't know about Rio, but that is damn close to the equator. And some of the other cities in the running are in the middle east.

          • Atlanta had a lot of rain during the '96 Olympics too. And they sold those frozen lemonades and fans everywhere. It wasn't so much the heat then, it was the stifling humidity.

            • If they do some d those hotter locations, they should do it earlier/later in the year to prevent athletes from dying in the heat!!

              • Rio is not that close to the equator. The climate in winter is slightly cooler than Orlando.

Additionally, our summer is their "winter," so it's not going to feel like many anticipate "summer" in the states to be.

                    • Fun fact for the day: the kid who won the silver in the men's 10,000 is the son of my DH's first HS girlfriend. She and her husband work with DH at his hospital and everyone has been so excited to watch him race. Rupp did great!
