      Changing Diapers in Restaurants

I feel the same way. I spend way too much on them! But I see it done all the time. And then I see people put them on tables. It's gross. I've also seen people put them on the ground in the subway. Gah.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that even people without kids do gross unsanitary things with respect to restaurant tables....

The problem is, it doesn't matter if *you* put your purse on the floor. It matters if the woman at the table next to yours who left 5 minutes before you sat down puts hers on the floor.

My microbiology teacher in high school was a perky French lady who said "After taking microbiology, you either become obsessed with germs, or you say 'To heck with it!'" I guess I'm in the latter camp. Wash your hands before you eat, don't touch the table with your hands, and don't eat anything that's touched the table (or tray in a fast food restaurant), and you'll be fine most of the time. Your bigger problem is undercooked food or food that's been held at too cool of temperature for too long, but the bacteria that's on the table doesn't matter much if your hands or food don't touch it (except for the gross factor).

I generally feel this way too--not much of a germophobe, actually. But I do draw the line somewhere before actual poop at the dining table.

I don't actually think we're arguing! I wouldn't change a diaper on a dining table, and I don't think anyone should. But it's in your best interest to assume there is poop on the table, wherever you go. Even without dirty diapers or purses, lots of people don't wash their hands after using the restroom and then go back to their table.

Another reason to stick with restaurants with table cloths...ick.

IMSN has made me...restaurant snob with public germ obsessions.

I couldn't give a fuck about germs. They are ubiquitous. I don't even think about them for the most part. I wash my hand after using the bathroom and between patients. Other than that, meh.

Yes, actual fecal matter is a step closer to WTF for me than a purse that touched a floor that might have touched fecal matter.

This is me too. I tend to not worry about things that I can't see. Probably not the most informed approach to the world but that's just how my mind works.
