I don't think any libs would be in an uproar if it were a fellow liberal who posted the pic. Political bias at its finest. I kind of expect that though.

I don't get how political party is in any way to blame for thinking this is a shitty thing to do to a family pet. The even shittier, snide, and condescending comment to follow it up just reaffirms that she doesn't appear to respect her pet, but she definitely doesn't respect anyone who doesn't think she's 100% right and justified.

Tbh, Ellen's picture wasn't much better and everyone else has said as much here. I do think there are also some GLARING differences between the two, the main one being what could be approximately 20ish pounds of weight on a dogs back. Is either right? No. And none of my political inclinations helped me make the decision that I think it's a shitty thing to do to your dog or to be put off by a super self righteous and condescending response after the fact.

I think it's just wrong. You don't stand on your dog period.

? Is it? To you, clearly it is, which is fine. Not to everyone. Isn't it sort of rude to dismiss anyone who does happen to care and think it's wrong/shitty or see that there's something to be upset about?

              You're right, I'll revise it.

This is a really stupid thing to get the level of press, outrage, or even defense that it has.

I posted this picture of DS when he was 2yo (so, 7 years ago ... I can't find the old post). I distinctly remember lots of you making, "Aw, cute" and "LOL" comments at that time...

                  Interesting.
I think people have their knickers in a twist because it's Palin.

I remember you posting that pic too. I probably said "cute".

Maybe you just have to care about animals to realize this is wrong.

I care about animals. It was wrong. It is not, however, front-page-of-CNN-newsworthy. (though a lot of crap that makes it there isn't)

Wow. That was bitchy. I care about animals. I also know how people can blow things out of proportion and make a mountain out of a molehill.

Peace out. I'm done with this conversation.

I didn't mean it to be bitchy. I don't do or say things just to be bitchy, but I do admit I'm the extreme opposite of Palin when it comes to animals (that is ok with me). I just have zero tolerance for what I think is abuse. Of course what I think is abuse is probably what half the country thinks is OK. I have also been accused of sometimes liking animals more than people, so that might explain my reaction / or overreaction (depending on your perception).

I have to admit that I am not a Palin fan...for no good reason...for some reason she gets on my nerves. Don't know why and admit to not taking the time to think it through. Having said that, I cannot say this person is an idiot, moron, etc. I do not know her. I only know what news clips put out there/the internet. Never met her but note that anyone in a political position will be scrutinized more than normal peeps. Hence, the reason why I think she should have known that anything she does is open for discussion. I just do not get the moron, idiot, etc. labels. Poor judgement is usually my go to response...unless you are talking about the Kardashians...then, moron comes to mind. Just kidding...not even they - that family is made up of geniuses if you think about the amount of $ they generate for doing moron type behaviors. But I digress. My FB feed is quite funny sometimes. I have friends that are so set in their political views that anyone in the other camp is just an idiot. It cracks me up when I read their descriptions of a same event.

Do I think stepping on the dog is ok...no, not really for the same reasons already mentioned. Is the dog being abused? I can't say so based on the picture.

I also do not understand why this is news. I guess we should be thankful that we must have had a "good" enough day for this to have made national news.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Had to check on this thread after it reached this length. Couldn't imagine what could generate so much conversation about the dog picture. LOL

I think Palin is annoying in moments like this because she doesn't back down or apologize. It's part of her image. I think there are liberal leaders that are the same way. I'm so tired of people being all "my way or the highway" about even stupid stuff. People -- even leaders -- make mistakes. This drive to have everyone never do anything wrong will eventually leave us with no one but arrogant narcissists for our leaders.

She should have just said, I'm sorry, I didn't think about the dog when I posted that. He's a tough guy, we love him dearly and he didn't seem to mind when Trig did this. I thought it was funny, but you have a good point. I'll look out for him more in the future. Thanks for the input.

Ditto Ellen, or anyone posting a picture like this that gets called out by dog lovers.

But then, you know -- she looks WEAK. Right? This is the common wisdom. It's got to go. Admitting mistakes, learning from them and moving on is a sign of strength, not weakness.

It's not a big deal in my mind either way. The dog is fine I'm sure. We all do hurtful things and post thoughtlessly. That doesn't mean we are evil or stupid.

                              Annnnnd....that's JMHO.

I see no reason for this to be on the fucking Today Show and I'm a crazy dog person who sees the Palin clan as being part of the Illiterati - stupid, insecure people who lash of at any and all sources of discord interrupting their echo chamber of teh dumbz.

I think Sarah loooooooves shit like this. It gives her attention and an opportunity to "look tough" over stupid bullshit that isn't worth the time and makes her feel "relevant" for a while.

Still doesn't need to be national news.
