Down a bit here, but not worse than swings earlier this year. Curious how Monday will go.

You'll have to supply the quotes of the other candidates proposing building walls. I may well have missed it.

Definitely don't let the news affect your investing habits -- this is what an Investment Policy Statement is for.

Oh yes...according to mine it's time to BUY! 😉 I just meant it hurts a bit to see those accounts in a deep dip, even though it may just be a blip in the long run.

Yep, it doesn't ever get easy to see nearly 30k just vanish in one day of trading. But we have almost 20 more years to go, so when stocks are down, we look at the plan, and hold our nose if necessary, and we buy stocks. Just hope th turmoil is over within 5-10 years. This vote definitely affects us all.

Like I said on Trump, he's full on narcissist, but mostly a publicity stunt. I'll have to find the videos, but basically much of what you see on TV is creatively edited outside of context to create a narrative of racial tension. I just watched a video by a Sikh man who basically called the media out for creatively editing the Donalds post-Orlando speech on Islamic immigration. Most of the rational stuff is cut to make it look racist. Not saying he's got couth. Just that the message being disseminated is intentional

Anything that is said before or after "they are rapists" as in the whole race doesn't erase it. "And some of them are good people." Doesn't erase it.

"I'm not a racist but,..." Does not erase the completely racist thing that is said after it.

Edited in whatever way, shape, or form does not excuse his blatantly racist comments.

Calling him uncouth or un-PC as excuses for his blatant racist comments and attitudes is glossing over the very moral fiber of this man which is woven with strings of hatred, narcissism, racism, bigotry, misogyny, is at the very least short-sighted.

He's a terrible, horrible human being. He inherited a lot of money, and has stepped on people in every direction.

The only thing Trump cares about is Trump.

                  He hates doctors, BTW.

Scotland had these things to say about him, I quite agree:

Heidi, PA-S1 - wife to an orthopaedic surgeon, mom to Ryan, 17, and Alexia, 11.

I only get around to checking on weekends. Last night it the week-over-week result showed stocks down around 1.5% which was less that I expected. It probably will go down a bit more on Monday, and I probably will let it do the dead-cat bounce a few times before I assume it is at the bottom and consider buying or selling anything. The global market as a whole took a hit so I don't think there is anything special to buy right now.

When the financial markets get upset there is a knee-jerk reaction to buy gold and to move funds into US dollars (the "flight to safety") because in the longterm they are the least likely to go into a free-fall. If you are American, that strong interest in US dollars will have helped limit your losses a bit if you look at what they are worth in anybody else's currency. If anything it might be a time to put a little more in investments outside the US while the US dollar is a bit higher than usual. However I would still wait until we're sure the impact of brexit on stocks has clearly hit a bottom.

I am in the US, but I'm fairly internationally invested. I've got a long-range plan, so I'm not worried about it now. Plenty of time to recover any losses anyway. Panicked markets aren't accurate, we'll see how it shakes out in the next few business days.

It sounds to me like you have formed an opinion without personally knowing someone based on spliced and diced rhetoric in soundbytes. I would be careful of that. The thing about sociopathy is that it takes many forms in whatever advances the sociopath. Sometimes it pasteurized lies, and sometimes its straight talk filled with uncouth statements. Donald Trump has been in the public eye for more than 30 years and this is the first weve seen of the media circus. Not only this, but he made a lot of money for a very Liberal media organization in NBC. Surely they wouldnt make a bunch of money off of a racist who steps on everyone in every direction? Like I said, its a circus. The entire two party election system is a circus. Money protects money, and youre either in or youre out. I dont consider myself to fall into that category, nor most of the general public.

I read this article in regard to Brexit and it pretty much nails how I feel on many issues. We no longer have rational debate on things, we simply label the dissentors with a phobia. Homophobia, Xenophobia, Islamaphobia... whatever shuts down rational debate. Its a logical fallacy called an Ad Hominem attack.

and I dont personally care how the Donald feels about doctors. Hes entitled to that opinion and much of the public feels the same way. Malpractice kills over 90k people a year. Thats many times the number killed by guns. People are naturally skeptical. All that your spouse can do is be different and change those people in their direct circle of influence.

And the mansplain is REALLY strong here. Holy moly. Unfortunately it's very difficult to engage someone who's going to take that tone.

Yeah, no. I'm having a really hard time getting around my frustration at the disrespect shown when you tell our friend and community member and a completely kick-ass human being that she should "be careful of that." I clearly pushed a button for you with the use of the term "mansplaining". I wonder why?

I'm quite aware of my liberal bias and I try not to let it come with any sense of moral superiority. I feel the way I do, and others feel differently. And it's true that accusing others of fear and hatred is seldom productive, so immediately slapping labels on headlines doesn't really help anything. But on the other hand, when nationalistic sentiments legitimize prejudice and discrimination, I do feel that is a backward sliding of our progress as a culture. And based on the experiences of people who actually were in Britain during the Leave campaign and the assassination of Jo Cox, and people who are actually in the US on the receiving end of an uptick of negative sentiment against them because of the media dominance of Trumpish attitudes, that's exactly what is happening.

This? can't be construed as anything but an attempt to arouse a sense of fear and mistrust of people who look different and come from other countries. That's xenophobia. It just is. Farage_addresses_the_media_during_a_national_poste-large_trans++jJeHvIwLm2xPr27m7LF8mTWU-KwRaHvl.jpg

This is the first we've seen of a media circus surrounding Trump? Okay, but he's been in the headlines time and again for his offensiveness. I was away this weekend and happened to stumble on a golf magazine that featured an interview with him from 2014 and it was a shitshow. The perfect storm of 24-hour-news meets reality-TV-star-turned presidential candidate, the new and brighter spotlight on his complete lack of moral fiber, just means that he makes good TV. Not that the actual misogyny and racism are newly invented by the media that covers him.
