and I'd like to see some more options presented for men, too
I can't imagine anything need more then the 'jimmy hat'
I know they are thinking of a male 'pill' but I would not take that just like I don't want wife to take it.

And as far as that whole 3% ish chance for them to break, well....never ever had that problem......though with a wife resident.....nevermind..

Well, you know, so many men don't seem to like them - DH included, although he does wear them when necessary - that I figure some more options wouldn't hurt.

Also, there's nothing more stressful than a "breakage"! But if 3% is an accurate figure, meaning that you'd have to have sex an average of 33 times to get your first break...then it really could be a long time between accidents! (Personally speaking, anyway...)

yeah, I wear a raincoat in the shower, and I've had a breakage before.

and isn't the failure rate not what percentage of the time that particular method will fail out of the number of times it is used, but the percentage of women who will get pregnant in a year using that method of birth control? Those statistics always confused me.

          I believe that is true.

Yep, Eric is right. The number shows how many women get pregnant in a year, not how many accidents happen. Also, the typical use failure rate for condoms is much higher.

That's right, so it's also worth bearing in mind that using FAM in combination with condoms during the fertile times is actually a little more dangerous in a way - because if it breaks, you've got a very high chance of pregnancy at that time, much higher than the usually quoted failure rate for condoms. Even the ECP won't give you a very reliable backup then.
