Duel Careers is SO hard. I'm an engineer, not a lawyer. However the struggles of having duel careers and a family are all too familiar. My only advice would be to make sure that you will not be so in debt from student loans that you are unable to take time off for your children's preschool years. I have to work because of student loan debt and a mortgage. I wish more than anything in world I could stay home with my son. I did NOT always feel this way. I thought I was going to have a crazy corporate ladder career and was on track! Once my son was born, my priorities totally changed.

    Good luck!

Weird. Did anyone just get this thread emailed to you with an update? If so, why is the last post from March?

Well, anyway, it just reminds me to check in. NYCHoosier, what ever happened during match?! You in law school now?

Hey...lawyer with BigFirm experience here...but my day has blown up in about a thousand directions--this was a stress-relief, diversion drive-by website peek-in...I'll post my thoughts (for whatever they may or may not be worth) later tonight... Congrats on a strong score, though! A Low-High is great news.

Laughing my tuckus off at this!!! Did you mean this or was it a type-o? Either way, result is awesome! From now on, I am calling it "duel(ing) careers," too...! So much more accurate.

I don't know much about law school either, but I do believe that you have to do what makes you happy.

I just saw this from TulipsAndSunscreen and so I slightly digress....

It's nearly impossible for him to keep on top of bills, etc. So, I deal with most of our bills, schedule appointments for our dog, etc. This is VERY difficult from 500 miles away. You can't schedule a plumber while you're not there unless you can beg a friend to meet that plumber. Same with oil changes, etc. Having the dog is really hard because we have a dog walker on weeks when I'm not there. Dealing with the mail happens every 2 weeks. I come home to a pile of mail as big as I am and I have to wade through it all. Not to mention that my DH is relatively clean so the house isn't a complete disaster but I know MrsK had to hire a housekeeper to keep her house clean because her DH was an intern while they were doing long distance and he just couldn't keep up with everything.
I am also between two cities (where I work and where DH is in medical school). Our house is with DH and the pets (cat and dog) are back and forth depending on who is doing what for what weeks. It is so comforting to hear that I am not the only one dealing with stacks of mail, house troubles that I am trying to take care of from a distance, vet appointments, and coordinating time off. Phew! It's nice to hear your DH is good at keeping things tidy. Maybe he can give mine some pointers....Thanks for sharing!!

Thats OK Christina, you weren't the only one. At least the topic of being in different locations is still pertinent for many.

None of the lawyers I knew told me not to go to law school... until after I had started. Now I freely tell people that I hated law school. Although I do enjoy practicing law.

Where is NYCHoosier? - we need an update on her status of applying to law school.
