We are way off target. Halfway through the implementation we were told by the old company that we couldn't get out of our contract until November, so we stopped training, etc and had to fight that fight. We went live two months later than planned and we are doing it in baby steps. The company we used before Athena was MTBC and they have really given us a hard time. We have been live since April 1st, but we haven't actually done any charting in the patient chart yet. We just set up the fax forwarding this week, and I actually like the Rx refills. I'm sure Athena is very frustrated with us, but we are moving at a snail's pace and that is ok with us. WE are paying THEM!!!!!!! We have been in practice for 20 years and don't plan to go completely electronic with the charts for awhile. For example, if we see 15 patients today, we will probably only chart electronically on two or three of them until we get the hang of it. The Rx refills show up in each provider's clinical inbox, or whoever they delegate it to. A provider still has to do the final sign off. I do my own refills now and most of DH's, so that won't really change for us.

Kris, you need to come to Dallas with Heidi and host an EMR seminar. Sounds like a business expense to me.Luanne

I just found something pretty cool that will be helpful for both Brandi and Luanne.
If you go to your clinical inbox, right below the grid showing what everyone has in which folder and above your specific worklist, there is a link on the right side of the screen, "Surgeries/Procedures". If you click on that you can do some filtering to show all of the open surgery orders that are not yet scheduled.
This is particularly helpful if you have set up the surgery check lists that need to be answered prior to scheduling because it will tell you which tasks are completed, and which are pending along with all of your notes on one consolidated screen. I think you can filter by provider as well, but I haven't yet because, well, we only have the one...Kris

Well tonight went great. Everything seemed to go well. One of the docs asked if I can teach his office manager how to manage.
I wore a black dress with heels. Basic but worked.
