Okay, so I arrived 40 minutes early to my 8:00 interview, and I waited in the car until 15 minutes prior to the start to go in. Cause, yeah. Can't be late. There were supposed to be 12 people interviewing in the morning, but only 9 showed, so yay, 3 fewer competitors!!

The had a some bagels and coffee for us. I grabbed a bagel, but was only able to eat a bite of it. Nerves. Everyone was very friendly and nice. I talked with my fellow applicants and it seemed like most of them were very quiet and shy, so I felt that I was an appropriate amount of outgoing, eager, friendly, and assertive. They introduced us to most of the faculty, and told us that the format would consist of writing a 15 minute essay, and then we would each have individual interviews with 2 of the professors, 3 separate times. Like speed dating.

The essay was weird, and I won't share its' content here, just in case I'm not supposed to or another candidate googles and finds this.

I then went into my first interview of the three. This one went okay. They grilled me on my grades as well as my experience being lopsided and somewhat limited to ortho. I explained my grade trajectory and things were much better now as I am more mature and dedicated. I also told them that since the submission of my application I have done more shadowing in a pediatrics clinic. One of them basically did all the talking and the other was a total poker face. "Thank you. It was nice meeting you."

My second interview set was awesome. They basically asked me some softball questions about balancing a lot and how I handle it. They asked me about the PAs I have worked with, and I mentioned that I employ one of their graduates in our office. They asked who, and I gave her name, and one of them actually said, "I love her. She's such a great girl!" Turns out she's like this particular professor's favorite. They asked about iMSN, and I told them about it, and they were very interested. They thought we sounded super awesome. Which we totally are!! At the end of this interview session, they both said I was, "very impressive." They were bright and enthusiastic and asked if I would share some of my practice management knowledge with my PA class, and I told them that I would be happy to share anything I have learned if I am lucky enough to get accepted. Score. Nailed this interview.

Third interview was similar to the first. I was grilled about my grades. I tried to explain it this best I could. She told me that my GRE was higher than any she'd seen, and so I am clearly very intellectually capable, so why do my undergraduate grades suck? I tried to explain, but she kept pushing for more details, specifically about my withdrawals, so I told her about the bed rest I was on for my pregnancy as well as the hyperemesis gravidarum and an endometrial cyst rupture that I had. She then said I could have left it at "medical issues." Ummm. Sorry? I was trying to be as honest as I could. I overshared. Shit. Sooo, just okay with that one too.

We had a tour. They talked to us about financial aid. So, there you go. I should know in 2-4 weeks. In, alternate, or out. Thanks for the mojo, and keep it coming!

I had an interview once similar to how you described your last one -- one of my three interviewers just could. not. get past the fact that I'd drastically changed career paths. Towards the end I felt like saying "look, I don't know how many ways I can explain this to you or why you're not getting this, but people's plans change, life changes, the decision was made, can we please move on". I did eventually get that job.
