I bought a sitting fee with a photographer for a family portrait. And for $25, got $50 to spend at Nordstrom Rack.

I buy often...I look for the $20-30/month yoga deals. I wonder how long I can do yoga this way?

Check out buywithme.com too, in addition to Groupon and LivingSocial

It's nice being in the city--most of the restaurants/deals tend to me very near us, while my mom cannot use many of them living in the suburbs because they are so far away

Most are good for up to a year from the purchase date, so it's fun to look at cities you know you'll visit.

It's probably b/c they just turned down an offer from Google to be bought out for $500M.

I will say that I've seen vendors of varying quality on groupon, so don't jump automatically b/c of the great price. I clicked through on a photographer link, and her pics were AWFUL. As in bride-looked-possessed and mom-holding-naked-baby-looked-in-pain -- awful.

I was just reading an article about the google/groupon deal the other day and it was saying that groupon backed out because google wouldn't agree to their cancellation payout. They were afraid it might get derailed by the antitrust rules and I guess the payout groupon wanted from google in that case was to big for google's tastes.

I have to say, they've been great about other things too... I bought a golf package for DH's birthday and they refunded me no questions asked when the place went under before I could use it.

I'm wary of buying anything involving a salon or photography package when I see the amount of people that have already bought it!

We used it all the time when we were in Boston - now we are in a smaller city and it doesn't have it - but I like the idea of looking in other cities! And same thing with SoonerTexan - a salon I had purchased a massage at went out of business and we were refunded immediately!

My area also isn't on there but they do have the Raleigh Durham area. I make it out there at least once a month.

True. I think the market is getting saturated, too. There are at least 4-5 companies doing daily coupons in Denver... all the really good places have been pretty picked over. I keep getting the emails but haven't bought anything in a while.

This is true. I've only purchased one, my organic delivery place had a great groupon. I'd been in the market previously though, so I was just waiting for the groupon to show up.
