That's a good point Peggy! I forgot that there were stories with them. You just saved Santa 80 bucks!

Excellent point. The story is so important. One of my fondest memories is of reading the Samantha books with the doll. My doll is still at my mom's house somewhere. And I had SO much fun circling crap I wanted out of those catalogs!

Peggy, I was of age during the original American Girl doll craze and saved all my stuff for my future daughter! Now I hope I can find it in a few years! It was lovingly packed in a box SOMEWHERE by my 11 year old self.

My grandma used to make is AG clothes and get knockoff stiff at the local craft fairs...some of it was cooler than the branded items. You can find loads of American Girl clothes and accessories on Etsy that tend to be on the cheaper side.

I was sad when the retired Felicity. I had Kirsten but always wished I had gotten Felicity instead.

This was me. Not a fan of any kind of doll, but I had My Little Pony for days - plus the playsets, like the giant nursery that was shaped like a baby bottle.
            That, and Pound Puppiies.

Not sure if we'll ever venture over to the pink side, but if we do, it will be interesting to see if our DD likes them.
