Alright....who is up for the challenge? This seems like a fun, simple way to put away some money for those of us in medical school or residency as well as us old timers who are out of training. I think it could be fun to motivate some saving!

It would be easier for me to do it monthly (make that month's deposits on the 1st of the month) than weekly. I don't know that I'd remember. Our savings is done online so I don't drive by the bank and think about it.

Dh and I are going to do this for our Christmas savings for next year. We already do savings but this is just a fun way to sneak in some more

Are you doing an actual savings account or just stashing the money in a cookie jar?

Savings account for me...that way I won't be tempted to "borrow" from it...

The 200+ next Dec would be rough for us but I really like the idea.

                      You could reverse it...

That's an idea, I'm seeing if we could swing it, or redistribute equally to achieve similar.

I think we can have this thread stay an .... open enrollment type thing. This way, anyone can join in at anytime.

I'm starting today. I have a savings account in TX with about $5 in it. I'm going to send my $1 over and start saving up for our next family vacation!

I'm going to do this-- each year it will go into one of the unused accounts for my kids. (Their main accounts they put savings into regularly-- we have 2 main banks and kid accounts in each, so the second accounts would be perfect). This second account I will be able to save towards our "end of teenage hood mom/daughter or dad/son vacation experience...

Too bad I didn't start this earlier bc I will have to go to the regular vacation fund for this year--- if I can figure out where to go with dd17 before she leaves me forever!!!!!!

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

I'm in - I'm going to do a cash box at the house. DH wants a leather bag like DrVanquisher has, so it will be a nice way to save some secret money for it!
