Mrs K, after seeing your post, I'm convinced we are kindred spirits when it comes to not just grocery shopping but shopping in general. 😄.

Our Walmart produce is bad, I mean barely worth buying most of the time. Target is helpful for some items we regularly buy plus the 5% discount I can save a good sum of money. Our grocery challenge is actually being home to cook.Tara

Our local Walmart has FABULOUS produce, which shocked the shit out of me when we moved here. I think they realized there was NFW locals would buy any if they didn't make it decent. Living in the middle of farmland means we have access to some really great, fresh food at several local farm stands, farmer's markets, and local grocers.

FYI, this week, I spent $79 on groceries. There was not any meat on sale so I paid full price for a family pack of chicken legs which will be two meals. On the way out, cashier whispered to me that milk is on sale super cheap (like $2.50/gallon) at Price Chopper every Monday, not advertised so not matched. Now I know that buying milk at price chopper on Mondays will be part of my new routine.

We pay $6/gallon of milk. Our Food Lion and Walmart have moldy produce and I try to buy organic milk when I can.

Oh man. I should not have read this thread.
Milk-- cheapest I've seen is $5.30 NF at Costco for one gallon. Prices were high in northern CA too. I bought one gallon for $1.99 on my last visit to Yakima, so that was something. Ground beef-- cheapest here is nearly $4 a pound!!!!!!! Ground beef!!!! Taco Tuesday is coming less frequently lol.
Anyway I can't do walmart. I actually hate walking in there. It's not a union thing, or a slave labor thing, it's an aesthetic thing. Walmart overwhelms me with all the stuff in the aisles and the people every frickin place.
Oh another bonus of island life:: the GET. We get to pay 4.715% on everything. Including groceries. 👎Peggy
Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!
