          LOL!!!!

By transferring the food from her mouth to his, she is sharing her saliva with him. That saliva has all kinds of fun bacteria and germs that may make him sick, as he may not have built up immunity for or had vaxs for at this age. I believe it can also mess up their teeth, which is why it isn't recommended to clean off a passifier in a parents' mouth and then put it in the baby's mouth.

I just remembered a bizarre bit of trivia I heard about a zillion years ago. I may be remembering this wrong but I once heard a theory that human mouth-to-mouth kissing evolved from primative humans engaging in this bird-like feeding behaviour.

Not that we should ignore thousands of years of civilization and resume to living in caves ...

Eh, while I think chewing the food and spitting into baby's mouth is kinda gross, it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Our guts are teeming with bacteria so I guess this is one way to have it introduced.

I'm laughing so much right now!

I did read someplace that you should not swap spit with your kiddos - like licking off their paci (guilty!) b/c transfers cavity-causing ickies into your little ones' virgin mouths...

Don't know how true that is

I see your point, but I think you are giving her WAY too much credit. There's no way he intellectually thought through this...
