It is apparently a familial name on both sides. And the middle name is her mom's maiden name.

Totally thought "maxi pad" the second I heard the nickname. My guy friend was like "Maxwell is a boy's name".

It sounds like a very boyish name given to a girl if someone were to know there would be no boys and no more kids in the future but I can't imagine she would be thinking this would be it. But what the heck do I know. ? nada! LOL!

        Maxwell House
        Maxi pad
Maximum density ("The Breakfast Club," anyone?)
Neo-Maxi Zoomed Dweebie (see same reference)
Maximally stacked (assuming she's like Mom)
        Maximum Overdrive
        Maximum capacity.

And most have unsavory double entendre.

Geez. The list goes on and on.

Once I read about the significance of the names, it's not that much different than what we were planning to do if we had a girl. She'll be Maxi. and her dad played for the NFL, so she'll stay Maxi. or Drew. I kind of think M. Drew sounds cool.

I just can't wrap my head around saddling kids with wacky names, family names or not. You won't find me naming kids Lovey, Dovey, Brucifus, or Lucifus; all of which are family (and ridiculous) names.

Sounds Hollywood normal. I think the Maxi will get a lot of flack. I can't really talk because I named my daughters Tyler Paige and Quinlyn Dean.

What's weird about Tyler and Quinlyn? I am not a big "last names as first names" person, but that is just personal taste. Tyler and Quinlyn are lovely and NOT Hollyweird. If you'd gone the Hollyweird route, they'd be Turnip and Qumkwat.

Oh, come on...you know... "Lucifus"...the name you give your baby who reminds you of what Lucifer would be like if he were a doofus.

My great-grandmother was the queen of goofy baby names. She had two sets of twins: Lovey & Dovey (Dovey was the girl), and Edward Lucifus and Edgar Brucifus.

Yes, I have two great-uncle Eddies who are twins. It's all sorts of Bob Newhart Show.

I like the name Maxi. Dh has a relative named Maximillian, and is called Maxi for short. It's a very common nickname in Germany.

Yeah I don't think Maxi is bad either. I don't even call pads "maxi pads" so I don't jump right to that nickname.

Anyway kids will make fun of whatever. And chances are she will go to some celebrity filled private school where Maxi or Maxwell will be a totally normal name. Compared to Apple or whatever other wacky celeb kid names there are.
