Most people will quote you an outrageous price for digital rights rather than just saying no way.

If you contact a school you might be able to find someone that shoots-and-burns like Pollyanna's son. It sounds like that is more of what you're looking for. They are out there, even professionally, but usually they don't as strong of a web presence as better photographers, hence their lower prices. There is a lot of hidden cost in photography.

It sounds like you're looking for a natural light, on-site photographer rather than studio experience, so include that in your search.

Did you do a search on FB or flickr? There are geographical area photography groups to look through.

What area do you live in? I'll make a post online in my photography group. It's massive. I think most of the responds will be from high-end photographers, but maybe we can catch someone in the PBing stage of their career. Fingers crossed.
I'm fine with just a print release. I would like copies of all or most of the shots, and I want them to be full resolution. No tiny files that aren't really printable.

I am definitely looking for a natural light, on-site photographer. Candid and posed portraits of the family and each of us.

I am fine with someone who is building their portfolio. I am fine with someone who has a portfolio. I just definitely want printing rights. I want to put them up on Facebook if I choose. I don't need to sell them in the future. I'm fine with a photographer using them to advertise their photography business, but it would suck to end up on istockphoto or something like that.

I am fine with paying a little more for the shoot itself, but I want to be able to print as much as I want where I want. I'd probably like an hour to an hour and a half, and I'd like someone who knows some good spots to snap pics.

I live in Winter Garden/Windermere right by Disney World, and I'm willing to travel to the coasts (Daytona Beach area or Tampa/Clearwater) or anywhere with about a 90 minute driving radius for pictures.

What about looking at an art school in the Metro area to see if there are any photography students looking to build a portfolio.

        I found a couple:

        http://www.taramerklerphotography.com/pricing/

http://blog.sivanphotography.com/investment/ (Maybe, but I'm not sure how much they charge on top of the session fee for files)

http://christinazphotography.com/investment.html (possibly, but might be too pricy)

I'll keep looking. I just searched "orlando mini sessions) and looked for photographers via that avenue.

I'm struggling with the same thing. I do lots of photos because I rarely take pictures otherwise. I photograph each of the boys 4x annually. For the first year, I have my babies photographed monthly. I just can't pay $500 for pictures if I do them that often. I also want digital images with reproduction rights. Been looking for months. K1 even asked me about it when his birthday passed without portraits.

Sometimes I see people advertising on Craigslist who are starting out and trying to build their portfolio. I usually see them in the baby/kid section.

MrsK you could "splurge" on the newborn photos and do the monthly ones yourself with the cute stickers on etsy. That's what I did. Well. Sort of. I'm doing the newborn photos myself too

We did a newborn session with a photog and I'm doing the monthlies by myself. I did the same thing with C and I loved how it turned out! It's not perfect but it's a lovely group of images when they're lined up.

I think I found someone. I got her name from the ultrasound tech last Wednesday. While the MFM had excused herself to call my OB, I'd mentioned to the tech that I was looking for a baby photographer. She scribbled the number on a post-it and gave it to me as I was on my way out the door. Crazy, right? But I saw the woman's portfolio today and I like it. I booked the boys for a portrait session next week. We'll see how it goes. I did some newborn pics in the hospital so I've got a start for Lambie.

No bites so far. I'll bump the thread.

I have found the "all inclusive" is code for digital files. You might throw that into your search and see who comes up.
