Not a very good strategy. Number one rule of fashion/shopping is to shop for the body you have not the one you want. Wearing clothes that fit rather than cover will actually make you look slimmer.

I wonder if either Stacy & Clinton or Tim Gunn would do an iMSN episode and fly everyone to NY. I can drive over to help out.
Weeeeee! Fun!! I'd to throw some things into those trash cans. I wonder if they actually WOULD do this.

      Re: WTF?

Don't get excited people. I was buying some new t-shirts so I don't look trashy in the mommy crowd. I decided they were a little baggy at the size I currently wear, so I'd wait until I'd moved down a size or two before I bought a bunch of them.

I love Tim Gunn, but I love being comfortable and I have no need to shell out $$ to fit someone else's idea of what I should be wearing.

The whole point is that both shows pay for the clothing. Plus nobody makes anybody dress in something they're not comfortable with. We all just want everybody to look their best.

Yeah - I get that. I was speaking in reference to my purchases / returns.

You do have to pay taxes on anything you get on those shows. It's definitely less than the home shows (think of the taxes on extreme home makeover), but on a bunch of designer stuff, it wouldn't not be insubstiantial. AND you have to be willing to sacrifice your dignity either by letting those crabby people disect you, or letting Tim Gunn be sweet and Veronica Webb go through your underwear drawer.

            Re: WTF?

I'd love to do it but they'd make me get rid of my birks. I mean I own OTHER shoes but...

It's the end of September and it's still in the 90s. Closed toe shoes don't happen here until December.

I'd do the show if I could hide my tacky favorite clothes and shoes at my parents house...they can't throw those away...right?

Really, I just want someone to buy me a whole bunch of new clothes.
After they trow everything bad out, they take you shopping for new stuff. They don't replace your wardrobe completely but make sure you have the basics. Most of the stuff they make everyone throw out is stuff that hasn't been worn in years or something nobody should be going out in public in. The key is to minimize the wardrobe to the basic pieces, nobody wears everything they have anyway and usually stick to same 10-15 pieces on daily basis.
